I saw a film study by Fouts who noticed Ruiz was punching AJ`s arm while it was extended, he started that this was done to him by his coach in sparring and is really painful, punching with an opponent has been done before, Norton jabbed with Ali but he didn`t hit Ali`s lead hand like you are saying here, I didn`t even notice that in this fight.

Was gonna dump on you for the 6345th Ruiz thread, but that's a really interesting observation. Kudos for noticing. I never heard of this before.

It's standard defense to paw/punch down your opponent's jab.

How long have you been following boxing?

As said its old hat , its the same as sword fencing where you parry your opponent...
Floyd used to wait for his opponent to jab, he would have his arms up or across his body, as they pulled there arm back Floyd would just follow the arm back from his elbow & just firm;y tap the arm. Why ? Because its a distraction, as they looked at the arm he would launch a combo or spin out away ...
    All old time stuff guys...

Ruiz is well schooled on the lost art of boxing.

just checked out the vid i see what your saying but what Ruiz did was slightly different he wasn't punching with Aj to block he let Aj fully extend the jab then punched his arm

joshua got what he deserved for facing a fat guy who shouldnt have got a shot.

Same with wlad sanders. they paid for trying to be clever and dump on their fans. thye just dumped on themselves.

noone should respect AJ much after trying to pull that stunt. He needs to do a lot of rebuilding to get some attention from us again.

its a way of unsettling them when you have reach disadvantage but not the skill to get inside.
arm punching an arm thats punching does more pain (but not necessarily harm) than a tensed defensive arm when punched.
