I think Ali and Leonard are strong contenders for top honors (at least in the last 50 years) in this category for reasons already stated. But I'll add a few more -

Joe Louis has wins over the five fighters who held the title previous to him -
    Carnera
    Baer
    Sharkey
    Braddock
    Schmeling

Even before he became a heavyweight, Evander Holyfield had wins over some notable fighters, titleholders, in the Cruiserweight division's short history -
    Qawi
    DeLeon
    Ocasio

He also holds wins over 3 of the 4 lineal heavyweight champions previous to him -
    Holmes
    Tyson
    Douglas
(Michael Spinks talked of coming back to challenge Holyfield if Evander beat Tyson in the originally scheduled 1991 fight)
As well as the 3 who held the lineal title after (or between his reigns, in Bowe's case) him -
    Bowe
    Moorer
    Foreman

While speaking of a George, there's one with a reasonable top 5 wins comparative to others.

    Frazier x 2
    Norton
    Lyle
    Moorer

Those top end wins compare favorably to a great many Heavyweight champions. Without even thinking he would have Marciano, Patterson, Liston, Holmes, Tyson and Holyfield covered. You could debate others too.

really got to be leonard, amazing quintet, and what makes it almost unbelievable is its 1/7th of his entire resume, including his score of fights as a contender.

few can claim that 1/7th of their resume is ATG.

Certainly noone can claim that 1/4th of their post prospect resume is ATG!

    Jimmy Britt

In 22 fights he fought Kid Lavigne, Frank Erne, Young Corbett II, Joe Gans twice, Battling Nelson three times, Terry McGovern and Packey McFarland.

He has wins over Lavigne, Erne, Corbett, two wins over Nelson, and a fight with Gans, which if on the level he deserved to win.

I wouldn't say that. And, I don't know if you heard, but Floyd is a great, too.

Canelo will be a Hall of Famer. Pac will be. Marquez will be. Cotto. Oscar's in. Hatton's in. Gatti's in. Genaro is on the ballot. Mosley will be on the ballot. Castillo and Corrales have a shot based on their series.

Floyd's a first ballot Hall of Famer and he'll have about 10 Hall of Famers on his list of conquests ... with zero losses against any of them.
