I generally don’t dislike fighters but Prince Hamed.
I hated the way he belittled his opponents within his fights.
Especially when he was on the way up it was shocking to see the way he mocked obviously outclassed opposition.
Although I’m a Brit, I was delighted to see the way Barrera schooled him.
For me he got his come uppance.

Mayweather is too easy as is Broner and I think Wilder has become too easy now.

Outside of those three I have a strong dislike for De La Hoya and every time I hear him speak he proves why I dislike him. Hamed too, I think he’s a scumbag. Never liked him.

Agreed, Hearns definitely beat him in the rematch. Oddly enough, whenever I've watched Leonard-Hagler, I've always had Leonard winning.

Hamed was a total arsehole when he was boxing. The cockiness and smarmy look he had on his face used to annoy me and the clowning and boasting about how wonderful he was was also annoying.

But his fans are what changed me from finding him aggravating to disliking him over the years. Even now they’ll gloss over the Barrera whipping by saying that if Brendon bloody Ingle (instead of the great Manny Steward) was training him he’d have KO’d MAB in 2, or that the version of Naz that beat Steve bloody Robinson would also beat Manny Pacquioa or FMJ just the same. They just overrated the hell out of him. Read the comments on YouTube on one of his fights and you’ll see what I mean.

I agree on Bowe. Wafer thin resume, avoided all the big punchers of his era and his title reign was garbage. In saying that Riddick could come across as likeable when he wasn’t cheap shotting opponents prefight. Rock Newman as someone else said was genuinely dislikable.

    Couldn’t agree more mate.
As far as I’m concerned Ingle was the teacher of bad habits.
Hamed got away with it until he started to fight the elite, then he started to get tagged.

He's not a fighter but I'd be quite content with life if Bob Arum had a heart attack in a stuck lift

Pazienza I didn't like. Roy Jones Jr I didn't like until I saw his documentary where it showed that he was robbed in the Olympics.

As a Klitschko fan I never cared much for Haye, that feeling doubled after the terribly boring fight the two put on.
Randomly didn't like John Duddy. It just seemed like such a manufacted product to try to get a title shot. Glad a fight between Pavlik and him never happened, seemed it would come up during every Duddy fight.

Could you explain this? A lot of people seem to strongly dislike Ray and I feel there must be some context I'm missing. I'm just barely old enough to have seen him fight at the tail end of his carer, but from interviews I've seen he strikes me as mild mannered, articulate, self-deprecating and generally likable. The worst I can detect is that some of the self-deprecation seems to be masking a bit of cockiness (i.e. "Look: I'm so great I can afford to be humble"). Is it because out of the ring he seems more like a tennis player than a fighter?

These are honest questions, I have no resolved opinion here.

Just as Gene Tunney spoke well, read books and lived a clean life, yet he was actively despised back in his day.
