Over 15 I reckon Rocky will keep the pressure on Jeffries , much of the fight will involve a fair bit of grappling imo . Unless Jeffries does any damage to Rock s face and the fight gets stopped that way , I've got Marciano out pointing him .A very physical bout where both are exhausted at the end .
Very tough to say, I doubt either would score a KO. Marciano has better work rate, so Jeffries would have to pick up the pace. On the other hand, James is much bigger and he could overwhelm Marciano. Rocky would come right at him and that would help Jeffries to use his size and strength in clinches.
As someone else on here previously stated on another Jefferies post well never really know how good he was, but we all know how good Marciano was and I could see rocky battering him down and t.k.o.s J.J. in 7 rounds
I'll take Rocky. The footage available of Jeffries doesn't look particularly impressive. A pity the best footage I've seen is of the JJ fight where he'd been out of action for 5 years or so, and probably not indicative of how good he really was. Marciano, however, we can get a good feel for and I fancy him over almost anybody within spitting distance of his weight.
Marciano by brutal KO. A poor man's Marciano was able to trouble and last against Jeffries. If Jim thinks he can play the long game against Marciano, he would be massively mistaken.
I see Jeffries laying back, waiting for Rocky to come in and countering him with left hooks,much as he did with Sharkey in their second fight,though he was hampered with a damaged left arm.A sound Jeffries would be bigger, stronger with a better chin and likely could match Rocky for power..
Poor man's Jeffries lasted with Marciano too. It's not that simple, Jeffries clearly won second fight with Sharkey even though he was injured Also, Jeffries has only 3 wins that can be considered as a "long game" wins - 1st Corbett and two Sharkey bouts. He had many quick KO wins in his resume, let's not act like he had to fight 20+rounds to win the fight.
Sharkey, with his limited game, had Jeffries bleeding and bruised as early as the third round. I just don't see Jeffries as having a dynamic enough offense or output to dissuade Marciano. I get this impression for many firsthand newspaper accounts, Pollack's book, and the limited footage we have. But... our sources leave a bit to be desired, so I am not going die on this hill.
Lowry, Lastarza, Applegate, CHARLES??? Choynski and Ruhlin both went 20. The problem is that Jim just doesn't have many wins at all. And for whatever complaints one might have regarding Marciano's best opponents being old and small... at least they were active.
Lastarza. Choynski and Ruhlin were very early in his career, at that point Marciano struggled with far worse fighters than them. Walcott, Charles, Louis and Moore vs Corbett. Fitz, Jackson and Sharkey/Ruhlin is legit comparison in my opinion. Fitz was probably the best of them all and Jeff beat him twice convincingly.
