People will come around eventually. Kicking and screaming if necessary.

Great video Rummy.

A question I have is do you draw a distinction between defending an alphabet title compared to being the lineal champion?

He doesn't. And he's correct in doing so.

Mike Tyson, Joe Frazier and Vitali Klitschko are three of the champions Wilder is tied with currently.

Mike Tyson and Vitali Klitschko made nine consecutive defenses of the WBC title, same as Wilder. And Joe Frazier made nine consecutive title defenses, but six of them were only recognized as title fights by five of the 50 United States ... and nobody else in the rest of the world.

Wilder's run of nine defenses is legit as theirs.

Wilder's title defenses are seldom vs. top ten men. Well, Ortiz at whatever age he is 38-41 was ranked, and Wilder barely pulled that one off. And that is his best win. He lost the Fury fight; most understand the draw was bogus.

Wilder's resume read like a puncher on the way up who never beat a top 5 opponent in his prime.

If he can beat Ruiz Jr, Joshua, or say one of the younger up and coming heavyweights who can box and punch, that could be his best win.

What I'll give him is he fight changing power that has bailed him out quite a few times, and good speed, even if his technique is the wind-up variety.

I tend to think we have already seen his best. And yes, he has a Joshua level chin at best.

In number sure*** In quality, not even close

• Wilder vs. Stiverne - Stiverene proved to be windy over rated. Not a title defense, this is how he won the title.

• Wilder vs. Molina - Not in the top ten, didn't he rock Wilder?
• Wilder vs. Duhaupas - Almost went the distance, the fight was close. Gave Wilder a black eye
• Wilder vs. Szpilka - Dead even on the cards until Wilder landed the bomb. Szpika wasn't ranked
• Wilder vs. Arreola - Arreola wasn't ranked.
• Wilder vs. Washington - A non top ten guy who was out boxing Wilder until he landed a bomb
• Wilder vs. Stiverne II - A shameful showing by Stiverene, old, fat and out of the ring too long
• Wilder vs. Ortiz - Nearly stopped, this is his best title defense win. His first title defense vs a ring magazine rated opponent. Oritz however was old
• Wilder vs. Fury - The vast majority thinks Fury won the fight. A bogus draw....should have lost his title here.
• Wilder vs Breazeale - Another non top ten ring magazine ranked opponent, he came in fat and slow and was blasted out in 1 round,

***Vitali has 11 world title defenses. WBO and WBC.

Why are you getting so heated about whether he has never beaten a top 5 opponent or not or why he only fight fighters that you don't rate? Calm down. He's the WBC heavyweight champion not the Mendoza heavyweight champion. Lol. He only has to fight boxers ranked in the WBC top 10 to keep his title not fighters on fans imaginary top 10 lists and so far the WBC are happy that he's doing what is required to keep their belt.

The historical implication, to me, is that he has never been THE champion, unlike the other names thrown out. Until he obtains that status, he belongs nowhere near this company.

His career has been steered by Al Haymon's elbow-rubbing with the WBC. He's made, what, three mandatory defenses this entire time? A prime example of politics at play and why the WBC nor any other alphabet soup organization deserves recognition.

To me, he is on par with Valuev and his title run. Other champs around at the same time and no willingness to meet them. Very very selective matchmaking and always being steered away from the perceived obsticles.

IF you watched the video, it's the most consecutive title defenses.

And all of Wilder's opponents were ranked by the WBC. Just like all of first ballot Hall of Famer Vitali Klitschko's WBC opponents - like Sosnowski, Charr, Arreola, Kevin Johnson, Adamek, Odlanier Solis and Juan Carlos Gomez - were ranked by the WBC.

Regurgitating an old post bashing Wilder's opponents won't change that.

Ortiz would have toyed with Valuev and all his opponents.

Only after he beats the winner of AJ v Ruiz or Fury or Usyk.

Valuev tried to make a fight with Vitali Klitschko for a long time. The two even met personally - Nicolay and Vitali - to try to work out a deal. But Valuev, who was operating on pretty bad knees at the end of his career, couldn't get the purse split he wanted.

They (Vitali and Nicolay) were arguably two of the smarter men to hold the world title. Valuev looked like a beast. But he is a very educated man.
