This is the sort of bullsh1t that his fanboys routinely spout about him and the sad thing is they actually believe it to be true.

Not one of these claims can be substantiated by any film except for the one inch punch. I saw the footage of that and I've a hunch that the punch's impact was dramatically increased by the receiver throwing himself 6 feet backwards into a chair. To be fair it was as much a theatrical demonstration as anything and probably to drum up publicity for his Dojo.

Edit- Actually the claim about Lee destroying heavy bags can be disproven by watching him flail away amateurishly at a heavy bag in another bit of footage, that also disproves how super humanly fast he could punch.

One of the best corkers I ever heard was

“Lennox Lewis threw that fight he had against Hasim Rahman, it was fixed because he wanted the rematch”

I said “he was out for three whole minutes, think about it, no way he took that on purpose”

He said “of course he did, I would do it for the money”

Does he mean "now" as in "now that my personal trainer taught me to hit a bag and shadow box" or "now that Roy is fifty years old"? Even the latter would be pretty outrageous.

That is impressive, but did you see the punches, round house kicks and flips Drew Barrymore executed in Charlie’s Angels? She would almost certainly give George Foreman all he could handle

That movie put crazy, cliched lines in everyone un-connected to the sport. It was a funny thing though. Just before that movie came out in late 76/early 77, I had met Davey Day, the former lightweight contender and got into a good long conversation about his career. And he told me in his fight with Armstrong, which was stopped on a cut, that he had a sever swollen eye and his team (Pian and Winch) wanted to slice his eye. He said he refused because a stablemate, Earl Mastro, had it done to his eye and he went blind. Anyways, it was literally just before the Rocky flick came out that I had heard about this practice and could relate to it. Thank God things of this nature were banned - except in the Rocky movies.

The impact of the punch was also probably amplified by having the receiver stand with his feet parallel to each other; a decent shove would knock them off balance. TBF, Lee does generate a lot of force in a short distance, but the dramatic impact is an illusion.

I got into an argument with a bloke in a pub in London who was adamant that Lenny McLean would batter Ali, Frazier and Foreman in “the street”. Of course I went into bat for my boxing heroes.

I didn’t know much about McLean at that point but after seeing pictures of him and reading his autobiography I thought maybe the blokes claims weren’t so ridiculous (although I always thought Foreman would kill him inside or outside the ring).

Then I saw him fight and realised he didn’t have the ability to beat a properly trained athlete and fighter like the aforementioned anywhere. Then I found outa lot of his claims were BS to begin with and the few times he stepped in the ring with a couple of domestic level scrubs he got obliterated. Perish the thought what a highly trained, fit, fast and strong elite fighter would do to him inside the ring let alone outside.
