Most exciting HWs: Wilder, Fury, AJ or Ruiz?

If Joshua doesn't become a habitual quitter he is potentially the most exciting boxer of all, he needs to keep getting up & trade power shots when hurt, he will always be a big attraction...The Khan comparison is right on...Plastic girl has an eye for exciting fighters

 

Wilder tried so hard to be Mayweather but just doesn’t have the personality and everyone thinks he’s an idiot, definitely exciting in the ring though - I’ll admit I do look forward to a Wilder fight. Fury’s personality has won him most of his fans because his defensive first style is effective but boring especially for casuals.

 

I didn't have much regard for Fury before seeing this video and now I have even less. To verbally abuse a great heavyweight champion (especially when Fury most certainly ain't, at least yet) is the sign of a person with essentially low self esteem and confidence.

Compare Kitschko's accomplishments at the same age.

Even Holmes, though he made his Marciano comments after he'd already pretty much proven himself to be at least equal the fighter Rocky was, looked bad saying what he did. Trash talking is entertaining at times and can really fuel a spectator's desire to see the actual fight. However, Fury spewed his bile without any regard whatsoever. I hope he loses again and again.

And gee, Fury, you really looked like a star beating him...

So you also think Cassius Clay had no self esteem and confidence when he verbally abused Sonny Liston who was the champion at the time ?

Psychological warfare was always a part of the sport.

 

Wilder is the most volatile. You know you're going to see a knockdown or knockout, but you might also see him get rocked or even knocked out himself. His style is rarely boring, and if you don't mind the awful sloppiness and total lack of any traditional boxing skill his fights can be really fun to watch. He's also kinda entertaining for the ludicrous nonsense he comes up with in the pre- and post-fight interviews.

Fury's hit and miss. He can be entertaining with the right kind of opponent, and some of his interviews can be fun, but he can also spout a lot of nonsense or look like he's going through the motions a lot of the time as well.

Joshua I've always found quite dull, both inside and outside the ring. He has that one punch knockout power that can occasionally make you sit up, but on the whole he's a bit too bland and robotic.

Ruiz? Meh, he's alright I guess. Not my go-to guy for excitement.

 

I'd have to go Wilder for the time being. Ruiz's last outing was exciting. AJ, fighting the good boxers he has, has made his fights great but not so for the casual fans.

 

You have a great point. Except, even on his best day Fury ain't no Ali. I'd be shocked to see many debate that strenuously.

Fury has a looooooong way to go to be anywhere near the level of skill of an Ali...or prime Klitschko for that matter.

But again, this is just my opinion. The opinion on an aforementioned old-school-to-a-fault dude.

 

Trick question. The most exciting part of Fury's boxing career is the suspense in waiting to hear his lab results from VADA.

Wilder is IMO clearly the most exciting HW to watch.

Ruiz is conventionally far more skilled a boxer than Wilder and he is exciting, but Wilder's technical flaws actually add to his excitement factor and if you've watched enough of him and understand what you're seeing, he actually is unconventionally brilliant in a number of areas to the extent that you know he might get lit up for a bit but sooner or later hes dropping a ****ing warhead on whoever his opponent is and ending it.

 

Inside the ring it has to be Wilder. I mean, the guy ALWAYS brings drama! He only had one fight that was quite uneventful in Stiverne I, and even then it was interesting to see Wilder show some boxing skills for once. Outside the ring I despise him and the bs he spout, so i steer clear of ANY interview but still watch all his fights.

Fury is the most exciting outside imo. I know that some find him tedious, which is perfectly understandable. It’s just that I find him funny as hell!

I also need to mention Usyk (when he moves up) and Whyte.

 

If Fury is on the same level as Ali doesn‘t matter because that wasn‘t the point of the post i responded to.

You said to verbally abuse a great champion when you have not proven to be on the same level is a sign of low self esteem and confidence.

Well, Liston was a great champion and Ali was a nobody, only a few gave him a chance against Liston who was thought of as an unstoppable force of nature.

Nobody knew at the time that Ali would be the greatest someday.

So the same must apply to him if you don‘t have double standards.

 

I will say this about Fury -- in all my years watching, training, competing, analyzing, and talking boxing, I've never seen a 6'9 260 lbs. man with anywhere near the same package of coordination, talent, skill, athleticism, movement, and pillowfists as Fury. He truly is a very unique fighter, even more so when you consider a past it CW dumped him HARD and in another fight he punched himself in the face full force and barely caught his own attention. That's truly crazy, USS Cunningham -- though an excellent boxer -- punches harder than that clown Fury.

Ill admit ive not paid any attention to Ruiz until the AJ fight but he seems more exciting than Fury.

The other two, seem to have the power to put anyone away, whilst being susceptible themselves.
