With his joke of a fight coming up on Saturday, how are the Americans taking to this? Top Rank meant to be advertising him quite good in Vegas.
ESPN is hyping this "lineal" nonsense over and over again. That seems to be their selling point. Outside of that doesn't seem to be very much buzz
Tickets are nearly sold out, there was about 1000 left last Sunday which means they will be all gone before fight night. Pretty good going seeing as Joshua / GGG didn't sell out their last fights
As a long time follower of boxing who lives in the US, I can say that the 'lineal title' angle is about the only thing I really give Fury's reign any credit for...and ive noticed other fans don't seem to care so much about the lineal title as much as i do.. As for Fury himself, i dont know anyone here who is a fan of his...he may have one of the worst styles of fighting in boxing history. I don't know where this idea comes from that Fury is some type of masterful boxer...honestly he is so frustrating to watch because whatever he does in the ring, it's not boxing. He spends much more time standing around, posing, and making stupid looking faces. Honestly watching Tyson Fury fight makes Floyd Mayweather look like 1990s Arturo Gatti. Furthermore, i have absolutely no interest in seeing a guy that big who can not put any power behind his punches. For such a big giant, he throws weak, girl arm punches... honestly i have no interest in watching 12 rounds of that. I can go down to my local bus stop and watch two homeless bums fight each other in the street, and they will provide more action than Fury ever could in his whole career.
I'm going!! needed an excuse to go to Vegas. lol... I'm not too hyped, but u never know these days.. the dude is big, and looks hungry, undefeated... Tyson is a loose cannon. I guess there's little intrigue to it.
Tom Schwarz looks like a big-jawed Nordic farmboy. There's only so much you can do with an opponent like that.
His PPV numbers for Wilder fight means he is not popular in US. He doesn't have power. He didn't stun Wilder once. His lack of power shows time and time again and that will be his limit going forward. His chin have saved him but his lack of power can't win him big fights and he won't be a PPV star because of that. I'm convinced that he will loose next year. I'm in dark who he will fight in his September/October fight but should be some better than Shwarz. He can loose in his next fight after Shwarz, you never know with him. Also his weight drop means he will be more vunerable to punches. Apart from Wilder he haven't faced any real punchers.
What I do find funny is the lack of criticism and the quietness about how bad a PPV event this is. Look at the criticism the AJ card got last week and it was about 10x what this is, says a lot really.
He stunned Wilder multiple times, i dont know what fight you were watching. And that was Fury at 50%. Wilder has an iron chin also, look how he stood up to the Boogeyman Ortiz's best shots This content is protected Fury has dropped all but one of his sparring partners in this camp
