A prime enough Jackson? I think he would always land on Terry.

Not dumb. Was more of a hot head. Once hit he forget to use the skills that made him
champion and this made him vulnerable.

That is why I think Jackson KO'S him 10/10.
Not good to see interviews of him slurring his speech. Always enjoyed his fights. Never Timid Terry Norris.

A fantastic offensive fighter with speed, technique, combinations but suspect chin, not great defensively, lacked discipline in fights and his CV is good but too many past it names on there and a number of bad losses. HOF deservedly yes but not an ATG.

and its a shame Terry didnt get the chance to avenge that loss

My prediction is another lopsided points win for Terry

you actually think I'm impressed with Benitez?

    and speed? WHAT speed?

I just dont understand why you use the Hearns loss, a LOPSIDED LOSS, to to prove anything

benitez wasnt a bomber and he never won the big one. moreover, he had just a couple defenses whereas Terry holds the record

You have to look at it this way; Ray Leonard & Hearns both own lopsided sins over "wonderful" Wilfred

while Terry owns a head splitting, utterly insane dominant showing over Ray

Come to think of it, Ray did a lot better than the others who were usually stopped including Mugabi, Gatti, etc.,, Curry, Brown, Taylor

so how is slow little benitez who cant do anything, going to fare against someone who's five times faster than himself?

benitez, yeah he's one of the elite tripple crown winners but never went far with any of his titles like Norris, Spinks, Hagler, Jones, Holmes, and other greats

i dont recall Ray Leonard as the underdog

as a matter of fact, you couldnt find one sportswriter picking Terry to win the fight

Why WOULDNT I rate it as a great win???

was Ray winning and hadnt he been unbeaten in ten years and hadnt he outboxed Duran, his arch foe 12/12 rounds and wasnt Ray the heavy favorite?

and didnt Ray have a vast edge in quality of opposition???

the question is why dont YOU rate it as a great win?

Yet you think I should think more highly of Wilfred benitez for losing a lospided contest to Hearns

no, he wasn't LIKE 36 years!

cant you give his exact age? He was 34 and unbeaten in 10 years

I didnt notice any wear on his body

and he wasnt even TOUCHED by Duran in his previous fight! Unless you want to count the one right hand Duran caught him with

    and Taylor?

did you not KNOW he was holding the 147 pound title he'd won from Davis in a lopsided bout? Aaron was the naturally bigger man and that didnt hurt Meldrick any, obviously

moreover, Terry even dropped to 149 to help him out?

    Mugabi?

no he did not lose LIKE 7 fights before meeting Terry. he lost two fights in 1986, one of those being to Marvin Hagler.

This is why I say, none of the criticism is justified. Terry was just too fast for everybody

He was very good. Not great. Very good offensive fighter with very fast hands.
He had a fragile chin. Brawled when he should have boxed many a times. Warriors mentality but also shows a lack of discipline.
On a side note. All this Leonard talk. I was not a fan of Leonard when he was fighting and I'm not much a fan now I've just learned to accept what a special fighter he was. On the other hand always was a Norris fan. That being said prime Leonard KTFO a prime Norris 10 out of 10 times

The difference between them imo, is Leonard beat prime versions of ATG's and Norris beat past their sell by date versions.

I completely agree but Norris P4P was far better than Berbick and may have been able to beat Ray at 154, I don`t think Ray looked great against Kalule, I feel a prime Norris could have beaten a prime Kalule more convincingly than Ray did.

Taylor fought just like Norris when they met at 154, throwing all caution to the wind and getting caught time and again with his leaky defense, both fighters relied more on athleticism than fight IQ I`d say.

    Rooster, you are delusional !

Did you read what I said ?

He was 35 years old and hadn't been in the ring for well over a year. He was IN NO WAY comparable to the Leonard who defeated Benitez and Hearns and went fifteen with Duran in Montreal.

Either of that Leonard or Duran would have crucified any version of Terry Norris.

I did not compare Berbick to Norris.

I was drawing a comparison between two great champions Ali and SRL, both well past their primes, getting defeated later in life by two men who would not have troubled them in the least when they were prime.
