I believe my eyes, and multiple decades of watching and not just watching, studying boxing. IF ( And that's a very big IF especially at welter where he picked his opponents well and timely) Mayweather Jr had found it within himself to get in a boxing ring with Duran and they fought anywhere from lightweight to welter and Duran was focused and ready or " Prime vs Prime". Duran would beat Mayweather Jr down and the fight wouldn't be close in my opinion. But that would be a big IF because Mayweather Jr was very good at maneuvering away from fighters that were serious threats and him winning would be seriously doubtful against prime Duran. So would Mayweather Jr even get in the ring with Duran?

Floyd would have to do better than that. He'd probably build up a lead with Duran coming on strong in the middle rounds and flatten him late. Floyd could hang on to drop a decision tho

Oh Robinson was saying on the vid that the numbers Duran was displaying in combo didn`t work when Chavez was using the same combo in the clip added in vid along wit Duran showing how he feels he would have beaten Floyd, also Barry who did this upload stated that Chavez had more success throwing four straight lead shots at Floyd and that`s a tactic that Duran could have maybe used rather than the combo he showed here as an example, however Barry R. who uploaded this vid feels Floyd was the greatest boxer ever, I disagree, but I do have him in the toop 10 of all-time.

I doubt Floyd would get near a ring with a prime Duran in it, much less fight

The problem is Duran had trouble with guys when they fought defensive fights or they had speed. And Floyd had both. Benitez or Leonard. He lost rather easily to both. So to say Floyd has not chance?

I don't think he would, but his style works well with someone like Duran.

Uh, he quit against Leonard in the second fight at 147, he lost to Wilfred at 154. At 135 Floyd has about one chance in 10

Styles is all I am saying. And I am not a Floyd fan. Duran wins the career greatness, but head to head Duran could falter... he didn't fight a Floyd caliber fighter at lightweight. That is a fact.

But you must remember both Benitez and Leonard were naturally bigger men than Mayweather Jr. Plus they carried their power through Jr.Middle. What earned their respect in their fights against Duran was the power in their counter punching. Mayweather Jr's pop shooting wouldn't concern Duran very much. Duran would literally be in Mayweather Jr 's chest with absolutely little fear. In my opnion, it's a bad comparison. Other than speed , and boxing knowledge it's hard to compare the 3 when one considers Mayweather jr. Absolute best was at jr.lightweight/lightweight. If Duran could smoother and control the tempo in the fight against bigger harder hitting, possibly faster (at welterweight) but just as skilled R.Leonard in Montreal, I don't see him having much of a problem doing the exact same thing against the naturally smaller less powerful Mayweather Jr.

Ray gave Duran that, Duran did not take it. Otherwise Duran would have beaten Ray in one of the last 2 fights they had and beaten Benitez.

What men of Duran’s caliber did Floyd fight at lightweight?
