* Qld April Adams is the mandatory contender for the WBO Super Bantam belt held by Denmark Dina Thorslund and April will challenge for the World Title June 22 at the Forum Horsens . April fight tops the card and lets hope like Deedee Hobbs its streamed live. AA '' I'm the strongest and fittest i can be. I've been training twice a day working technique, explosive strength and endurance. I've also being doing a lot of sparring with bare knuckle Champ Bec Rawlings and now Bellator signed and Olympian boxer Bianca Elmir. " This content is protected This content is protected * Ben Horn the younger brother who was stopped on debut is having his second fight June 28. * Dennis Hogan fight announcement in 2 weeks.
Hope there's mandatory drug testing for that women's fight. That Danish girl looks a bit too good for my liking. Hoping Dennis Hogan gets his rematch straight-up. Great respect for Mexican Mungo if that happens. Good to see the Moloney bros on 'free' Foxtel this weekend. Not sure about the replacement opponents. Hopefully they go alright or ESPN will be reluctant to take shows from this part of the world in future. Looking forward to seeing that young LH fight for the Australian title & the Kiwi Super Middle as well. Those two could be matched up again on a future show. Plenty of other talent around for Dessaix to defend against so I'm hoping he wins for his sake & that of future potential match-ups. Junior Tszyu v Tej Singh for the Australian Middleweight title would be a decent fight. Might partly explain why Tszyu is over in the Philippines sparring a southpaw currently. If Tszyu wins the national middleweight title it might bring the Mundine fight into play at the end of the year.
* Maloney twins are signed with Top Rank but the Tanzanian fighters can be dangerous as Bruno Vifuaviwili showed. Not sure if Dessaix wants rematch with Auimatagi as Moses starched him with huge overhand right in 90 secs. The fight with Kerry Foley could be the fight of the night and OPBF SMW Title is up for grabs. Don't expect this one to last the distance with Foley $ 2.67 and Auimatagi $ 1.42. * Sam Soliman to play a role as mentor for Jayde Mitchell. * Alex Leapai according to his trainer Noel Thornberry a late replacement for Eric Molina against Joe Parker Providence Rhode Island June 29. * Liam Wilson returns and in his 1st week of training camp. * Renold Quinlan returning Aug 14. * Joe Goodall returning against India's Sumit Rangi June 28. I might be in the minority here but I don't think Leapai constitutes much of a step down from Molina. Lateral move at worst.
* Tim Tszyu opponent for Aug 14 will be announced on Fri. I'm guessing its Dwight Ritchie. As the Cowboy is now ranked IBF no 10 and a victory would give Tszyu the all important top 10 ranking. Undercard shaping up nicely with Jack Brubaker , Renold Quinlan and AFL player Tayla Harris. This will add a lot of media attention as she is 4 - 0 and has 100 ,000 instagram followers and she captured national and global headlines when a pic of her was posted and the social media comments went viral. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-03-21/tayla-harris-trolls-arent-only-problem/10921784 * ESPN not showing the Foley vs Auimatagi fight and this is shame as i assume Fox is taking ESPN feed. The April Adams Title fight being shown on ESPN so i also assume it will not be streamed live ? * Liam Paro now IBF no 8 and he is chasing a WBO mandatory he is no 3. ( WBO rankings haven't being updated. ) * Cheeky May steady at 130 lbs IBF no 7. * Recently signed Bellator MMA Bec Rawlings is backing April Adams. '' April is looking great . She had a great training camp and really leveled up in training in the past weeks. I have no doubt she bring home the belt. " This content is protected This content is protected
Jai Opetaia is facing Nik Charalompous next. A bit underwhelming if you ask me. Charalompous has continued to blow up in weight over the years and is really a blown up light heavyweight who has already lost to Ben Kelleher who Opetaia has beaten comfortably and got a hometown decision against Joseph Kwadjo a few years back.
Yeah thats a bit disappointing and I'm sure that's not what Jai would prefer. At least he is jumping straight back in the ring..after being out for nearly a year with that debacle with the Belgian.
* Tim Tszyu is fighting Dwight Ritchie PPV Aug 14 with the WBO Global and IBF Pan Pacific belts and top 5 ranking in both organisations awaiting the victor. Its being held at International Convention Centre Darling Harbour ( Capacity 8000 ) . Undercard is Tayla Harris vs Renee Gardener. Mateo Tapia vs Renold Quinlan Jack Brubaker vs opponent TBA ( not Ty Telford rematch ). More fights to be added. * Tks to success of Tim Tszyu PPV Fox will be showing more boxing. Foxtel will be showning Jai Opetia fight from Luna Park Sat July 27 Fox 507. *Joe Camilleri is relocating to Brisbane and joining Glen Rushton stable. * In Duk Seo Korean WW Champ fresh off a ko of Aust WW Champ Tysinn Best is now calling out OPBF Champ Ben Savva. Savva fights next Luke Woods Olympic Park July 19. This content is protected This content is protected
Tszyu v Ritchie is a good fight its a shame it can't just be on regular fox sports. Big time boxing on fox sports probably would've survived if they could consistently put on cards like this. Tapia v Quinlan is also a good fight. If it was at the Star I would probably go but might just watch from home this time.
Dwight Ritchie is a high quality opponent for Junior Tszyu. His actual record is better than it looks. Those first four no-contests on his record were all wins that took place when he was under age. So his actual record is 23 and 1. One loss in ten years as a pro including international experience is pretty good going. Interesting move by Joel Camilleri. He will have both Horndog & Dennis Hogan to spar with up there. And of course they'll have him. That's been one of the keys to success of the guys up there - the good sparring. Liam Paro has spent time in that gym as has Daniel Lewis. Cameron Hammond is based there also. The regular, high quality sparring behind closed doors is something the Tszyu camp will need to address if he's to dethrone Horndog down the line. Not sure how Camilleri's departure from Melbourne leaves Michael Zerafa in terms of sparring partners. Particularly if he's fighting Horndog next up.
Just saw, first time Pintos had been stopped in almost four years, when Brandon Cook did him. Pintos went the distance in his only defeat since then, against the mighty Shefat Isufi.
* The Mens and Women's Aust Champ is being held in Melb next week as this is a pre selection event for Mens World Champ to be held in Yekateriburg Russia 7 to 21 Sept and Women World Champ to be held Ulan Ude Russia 3 to 13 Oct. * Ty Telford camp not chasing Brubaker rematch at moment as they feel he needs more exp and his natural weight is 140 lbs. He was so strong in Brubaker fight and will be a force at this at weight. * Talks of Camilleri moving back to his natural weight of 147 lbs. How about a fight with Brubaker who is never in a dull fight . * UFC Alex Volkanowski is on standby for UFC 240 Alberta July 23 just weeks after contracting a serious infection in Chilean hospital that nearly cost him a leg. If Frankie Edger withdraws from a Title fight with FW Champ Max Holloway then Alex would be catapulted straight into a world title shot. * Good to see new local promoter on the scene with Tasman Fighters to promote Opetia fight at Luna Park.
