I think Gervonta Davis is the most naturally gifted lower weight fighter

Dude, Inoue's got exceptional handspeed. He uncorks his power shots like they're fast jabs.

You realize that Lomachenko and Inoue are both in the "lower weights", yes?

Inoue is a silent killer. He is one of few boxers who is capable of delivering powerful blows repeatedly on different side of hands with a great acceleration and with great selection of offense. The series of punches he thrown to knock Rodriguez the first time is a combination of godly reflexes, eyes and hand speed, it's almost like machine. Can't train that one.

Yes and Davis is more gifted than Lomachenko. Is Loma a better p4p fighter than Davis right now? I think he is. But that is because hes more polished, skilled and experienced.

Loma does not have the same level of explosion, power and destructiveness as Davis. Gervonta has god given raw talent that you cant teach.

I can't wait for next year when Lopez and Haney will be in position to challenge him. And then there are Berchelt and Davis who will likely move up at one point.

It's Noaya Inoue and Kosei Tanaka.

    Gervonta doesn't come close.

Warrington is also better than Gervonta.

I don't know about "The most", but in terms of natural gifts, he's definitely top 5 IMO. Tank really, truly is a physical specimen.

So what if he is 'gifted' ? Everybody knows that already. He never wants to fight Loma. Never wants to fight Berchelt. Him and Farmer only fought in Twitter. Natural talents without proper head get you nowhere.

Nah, he's more athletically talented and more skilled.

You're overly hyper-focused & hung up on that one component of being "gifted/talented". Power isn't the be all end all, just one small piece of talent (and even smaller piece of ability overall, which also factors in skill)

Davis has power, thats it. Lomachenko is athletically talented, and skilled. Its true what they say, the Tin Man has no brain.

Perhaps this is true. Sure the power is notable. Davis is a very hard puncher, but it's his explosion and fluidity from the punches that is so special. I'm not saying hes going to sit in the pocket and string some combinations with the artistry of Marco Antonio Barrera from 2001.

But the way he comes walking in with the head movement and positioning. And then unleashes hooks and its devastating. Athletically hes definitely got an advantage over Loma. I wouldnt even call Loma uniquely athletic. GRJ was even more athletic than Loma.

Vasyl is pretty fast, but his speed is overrated, especially of foot. Hes the highest ring IQ and most balanced fighter in the sport. But clearly just straight foot speed hes not even remotely close to Pacquiao was. Not even close to the power of Hamed. Not even close to the handspeed of GRJ. Granted these are the top guys in terms of athleticism in those respective departments. But Loma isnt that athletic in my opinion.

Honestly, there are fighters who would be a world champion no matter who trained them or when, or even if they trained very much or not. Canelo is one of them. I bet that, had I trained canelo instead of reinoso, he would have been a world champion with me too. He's raw pure talent. The same happens with inoue, pure innate talent.

And NO, it doesnt happen with lomachenko. And I dont agree with the OP, I think it doesnt happen with gervonta neither. When you watch lomachenko you watch the result of years and years of training, not the raw pure talent shining, like we can see when we watch people like inoue or canelo. Clearly, had I trained lomachenko, he wouldnt be ****, nobody would know his name, not even his father.

How do you figure that he's a unique physical specimen? He's not all that ripped/shredded like a Tim Bradley... And he hasn't shown insane athleticism like Pac or Loma...
