For the record, I thought the last season of GoT was borderline atrocious. Couldnt believe the same people that did the previous seasons, did that one. To me its almost like they said **** it. Kinda pissed me off actually... because you invest a lot of time into a tv series, and then to have it end like that. But... meh, thats just me.
Agreed. For me, boxing and HBO were practically synonymous. First boxing match I ever saw was on there as well. I still miss the sound of hbo boxing intros. Damn
I'm not sure if it is to much boxing but you may be right. I think it was the atmosphere and the fights themselves. Think about all the great fights that were on boxing after dark 1. Ward Vs Gatti 2. Barerra Vs Mckinny 3. Jefferson Vs Harris 4. Barerra vs Morales 5. Cotto vs Torres 6. Maidana vs Ortiz 7. Phillips vs Tszyu 8.Morales vs Zaragoza 9. Rios vs Alvarado 10. Gatti vs Robinson 11. Maskaev vs Rahman This doesn't even count all the PPV's and World Championship Boxing cards. HBO was special when it came to boxing. It was a very sad day when it ended.
Yeah, and it's also that HBO demanded good matchups. While now, because the quality has been shifted for quantity, the promoters are busy to fill TV dates with mismatches and pointless fights.
I remember in the 1980's. I was in high school. The NFL went on strike. So HBO replaced their show "Inside the NFL" with Biographies of great Boxers. It really made me interested in Boxing.
Not seen a single minute of GOT but I suspect the networks covering boxing watched avidly and took notes...
