Trinidad at the top of his game was a different level of fighter to Lemieux but DL can at least take a few shots and Tito probably didn't hit as hard as GGG at middle. Tito takes him down in about 9, but it's not out of the question that he might have to get off the floor to do it, as he did in several other bouts.
Skill wise the nod obviously goes to Tito, but Lemieux is a B level fighter than can spark Tito no probs if he connects, I actually think he does it !
Trinidad was a monster at 147lbs and was able to carry his power up to 154lbs and still had the frame and capability to compete. 160lbs was a stretch too far really. He still destroyed Joppy, but Joppy didn't pack the heat that Lemieux does. Trinidad is a far greater legend than Lemi but I cannot know that his body could hold on if David lands those bombs.
It's sickening the lack of knowledge in this thread. Trinidad was a master offensive fighter with infinite stamina who carried his power late throughout the fight, he was BUILT to beat up guys like Lemmy. Trinidad would break opponents down with precise counter hooks and body shots that softens the opponent up until Trinidad was ready to finish them off. If you've ever seen Lemmy fight, he's just winging telegraphed punches and is extremely 1 dimensional... a couple of chunky signature left hooks from Trinidad and I can't see this fight lasting past the 6th. Also lol at Trinidad losing power at 160, he literally manhandled and knocked out the long reigning WBA and Ring Magazine number 1 rated Middleweight champion William Joppy during his first fight at that weight class and only man to wobble and hurt a prime Mayorga with a head shot. Never mind Trinidad, I favor Fernando Vargas, Joppy, and pre Tito Mayorga to beat Lemmy convincingly.
Again, this ain’t noones fantasy match. This is silly. Tito is levels above lemmy. Lemiuex wouldn’t win a single second of a single round n he’d be done after 5-6.
Felix thinks he's a "knockout artist" until he runs into Lemieux, who shows him what its all about. Stay with the little guys, pal.
Mayorga....another former 147lber. Joppy never packed serious heat. We also cannot dismiss the handwraps. His power was unnoticeable against Wright and Bhop. He was landing on Wrights forearms and globes all night but could so much as budge his upper body or halt his momentum. Tito could certainly beat Lemi.....but he outta stay with the little guys.
