You know the guys that seem to display all the principles you would normally applaud, or you really don’t have enough information on, but for no real reason you just can’t help but root for their opponent. I’m not proud of having such a list but, since I do, using projection I’m assuming others do too.

Kieth Thurmon for no good reason is right near the top of my list. Evander was on it for quite a while, although later I was able to justify his status with his perfection of the head but and its incorporation into combos. Technically, that rose above the bar of ‘no good reason’ and coupled with the unexpected growth of respect, I reluctantly removed him from the list…

    Who’s on your list?

I always believe I have a good reason to, if I dislike a fighter... Otherwise there's no reason to dislike him in the first place.

It's not always boxing related, like what I consider obnoxious behavior, destructive criminal tendencies and such. But there's always at least a reason conflicting with my own values and behavior.
The worst thing I can think of for wanting someone to lose is for being reluctant home fighters (hiding in the US/UK/Germany/Mexico/Australia) or spoilers.

I agree with you 99% of the time but then wind up rooting for the guy that’s opposite of what I appreciate of values, Ricardo Mayorga would fit that bill, or against the guy I would say is a good guy...Maybe it is just me. Appreciate your input.

I was the same way about Zab but later appreciated him, went opposite direction with Darrell. But yeah, my reasoning is pretty petty at times.

I never liked Povetkin for quite a while. Something about his face annoyed me. And there was that long period when he ducked Wlad like the clappers. So there is that.

Hughie Fury irritates me. But then he's boring as hell both inside and outside the ring, so that could count as a good reason.

Fighters I dislike for no good reason? Hmm, hard to say. Maybe Spence, but then I just don't pay him any attention or root for him rather than actively dislike him.

Boxers who evolve to become the face of a corporate juggernaut. Canelo and Joshua being prime examples. Now, there might be other great reasons to dislike these two but the point stands: as soon as a fighter becomes a manufactured front-of-house - a product, even - then I start to seriously dislike them irrespective of their personality or boxing style.

Fury has to be very careful his counter-culture image doesn't become so polished it has the same effect. It's authentic at present but needs to be kept out of the hands of marketing experts....

For no good reason ? Hmm....

I think Canelo. I don't know why, I just don't like him even if I try to. I think he lacked of integrity and sometimes also valor. And doesn't seem to have sincerity. I find his attitude is different compare to Mexican legends I know and grew up watching, like Chavez, JMM, Barrera, etc.

1.) Tyson Fury and his moronic fans. I swear, this guy and his sob story, as if someone put a gun to his head and forced him to get high on drug, booze, and probably PED that got him suspended.

2.) Anthony Joshua I dislike slightly as I think he's aware of his limitation and is willing to fight anyone if his idiot promoter wasn't getting in the way but his fans are unbearable. These clowns talk about Joshua's resume like he ran through 70s and 90s hall of famers. It was very satisfying watching these clowns humbled by the skilled but pudgy Mexican in MSG.

3.) Golovkin - Another guy that's been playing victim all his career and though he's arguably the second most privileged fighter in the sport behind Canelo Alvarez with the network and promotion all behind him. His fans are fond of comparing him to legends of yesterday, even going as far as disrespecting these tested and proven legends of yesterday to make their case. This guy has been a pro since 2004 I believe and the best win on his record is Danny Williams, a guy that was not highly thought of before the fight and which many observers thought his lost. This guy went life and death Canelo Alvarez. Bitched and moan about Canelo Alvarez fighting style in their first encounter only to be out muscled and pushed around by a blown up superwealterweight in their second encounter. Till this moment his fans are still crying robbery to a close but decisive victory by Canelo Alvarez. Since then, Canelo has gone on to beat his best win Danny Jacobs without the controversy, while Golovkin is back to doing what he does best........fighting bums:p. But this guy is supposedly the greatest middleweight since Marvin Hagler. :p

I used to like Shawn Porter, but he's shown to be a two-faced punk. Always saying he's Team Manny, but then Showtime cameras caught him rooting for AB during the fight.

I’m not a religious man and was brought up a Christian but I really can’t stand any fighters that do all that ‘first and foremost I wanna thank our lord Jesus Christ, oh it’s truly a blessing “ really bugs me that
