They aren’t really though. Matchroom sales haven’t been great lately, Whyte to my knowledge hasn’t ever sold out an arena? I think only two shows have done well this year, Liverpool and Leeds and no surprise that they were the best cards on paper.
Boxing is currently on its arse in the UK. The boom has gone. Ticket prices are scandalous, the PPVs are shocking and we just don’t have many good boxers anymore. People hailing this card as great but it’s a british level headliner and the 28th vs 26th best heavyweights in the world. I myself acknowledge it’s one of the better cards of the year but if you look at it on paper it’s not one to capture the public’s imagination.
I don't believe there ever was a boom. There was a Joshua boom, but it never transferred over to fans buying tickets for many other fighters.
I think the likes of Bellew and Crolla both benefitted from AJ's success in terms of increase in ticket sales
