If Whyte beats Rivas that's another solid opponent on Whyte's ledger. Helenius, Browne, Parker, Chisora, Rivas... it's hard to argue that that isn't worthy of a title shot in today's climate.

Nothing in his performances or demeanour indicate that. He took time out to rebuild and looked to be back to his best when Rivas beat him.

It was a very solid win for Rivas and makes him a very credible opponent for Whyte.

He moved his arse to USA to fight Malcomn, he just didn't break through because guess what Wilder don't want no smoke.

    WBC don't want no smoke.

So Whyte might as well earn a living from his loyal fans at the O2. Can't knock a man for TRYING, and trying he has.

I wouldn't bother with that guy.

    Look at his join date.

Well, he had his chance at the immediate rematch then jumped into Arum's arms and had as soft a touch as I've seen from a top contender in recent years.

I'd be very excited to to see this in the fall, but I have a feeling Ortiz turned down AJ because he knew he had the Wilder fight in his back pocket, with much more time to prepare than 5 weeks.

Whyte is more worthy than Ortiz, old pedster had his chance. Smells of another Buffet Bermane II stinker.

Yes he's done well scraping home against solid top 20-25 contenders in his backyard. Maybe we'll see him finish the year against Mariusz Wach or Gerald Washington on PPV.

I've got to give it to Whyte...while I've never disliked him by any stretch, I really have sold him short in that I always seem to be picking against him. He's outperformed what I thought his ceiling was, and fair play to him for it. I think he's got a case for a title shot now, and would certainly have one if he beats Rivas.

Also not hard to argue that he probably shouldn't have gotten the nod against Parker.

This. Jennings got beat so bad that he took a two year layoff and hasn’t looked any good during his comeback.
