Should Andy Ruiz try to get in better shape, or just keep doing what he's doing?

Ive seen other fat guys get leaned down and in better shape, but it doesnt always translate into better performances...in fact a lot of times it seems to reduce punching power and punch resistance

Ruiz Jr in shape wouldn't be a heavyweight anymore, so that would suck for him.
Fighting Kovalev, Beterbiev, Bivol and Gvozdyk wouldn't net him a tenth as what he can earn now.

If it doesn't affect his fighting attributes then sure, why not?

He was considerably lighter when he fought Parker. 255lbs, it appears that extra 12lbs of flab, actually helped his power when he flattened the bodybuilder. I do think Joshua probably would be better coming in at his Takam weight. That blob was making him buckle with that enormous 20lb weight advantage.

He came in heavy for a reason, it worked out for him, why should he change? Maybe shave of a few pounds, but if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.

It is never in a fighter's best interest to not come in the best shape possible. Ruiz is no exception.

Andy wanted to lose 10 pounds this year. Only 17 to go.

Maybe, but if I were him I wouldn’t change it for the rematch. Experiment on a softer touch.

The blob Ruiz might have just added a extra stone of muscle underneath that flubbery blubber. You don't always lose fat, when you put on muscle. The strong man physique always prevails over the bodybuilders physique in functioning sport activities. Joshua just a poser. Should stick to the olympia, with those big fake artificial muscles filled with sacks of water!

Imo he would be more effective at around 230-240 pounds.

If something’s not broke then why fix it? He’s having success how he is.

It wouldn't hurt for him to hire a strength and conditioning coach or a nutritionist.

I think it was more of a case of Ruiz being in 1st gear till AJ touches his face and Ruiz turned into the devil when he gets mad.

He's going to die before 60 imho. No offense but he's just too obese, it's not a good look. Put the flaming hot red40 chetos down, we're begging ya champ
