Canelo Alvarez is probably P4P #1 heading into 2020

Oh, so now being considered the best p4p is now based on resume? Does now mean that 40 year old Pacquiao is still the best p4p since he’s still active and clearly has the best resume around?

No, it varies depending on the person's opinion. To me, it's a combination, skill, athleticism, resume, what have you done lately? Inoue and Canelo meet that. Crawdord and Lomachenko don't.

Sorry but you working out and professionals working out is not comparable lol. Also if you work out on PEDs for let's say half a year, then the last 3 months you still workout without peds you're still reaping the benefits. The only plausible argument is if Canelo just stopped doing jack **** for more than 3 months, then I'd buy your argument.

Also you say that it can trace "blatant" PED use, but what if it's minimal? The facts are he did pop dirty, and us as laymen don't know if he was flushing it out which might have been the cause of low traces or if he's using it to mask other drugs. Or for all we know he ate "mexican meat", although I think this is highly unlikely.

"Mexico is known for having a clenbuterol problem in the meat industry, and other fighters such as Francisco Vargas and Erik Morales have also popped dirty unfortunately."
Look none of us know 100% for a fact what happened. But we can make educated guesses here and guess that anyone who actually believes this story has an extremely low IQ or are fanboys like you. Canelo has hundreds of millions of dollars, you don't think he has people checking his food? You think he eats shitty Mexican meat that might be contaminated?

I agree with consistency. I don't think Canelo should not be considered an ATG when it's all said and done. But I think it's just an interesting point to bring up that if someone pops for a PED so recently, should we consider that fighter p4p #1?

"I personally don't pay too much attention to P4P lists, its all completely subjective."
Also disagree with this. Sure it's subjective to a point. But if Canelo never popped dirty, I don't think anyone can argue against him being p4p #1. Loma's opposition has been weak and Crawford's opposition haven't been to the standards of Canelo either.

STOP you're going to trigger the loma fans!! They're going to get really really mad at you!

As for Inoue, as a huge Inoue fan, he's below Crawford and Loma until he fights Nery at least. Imo he should have done whatever it took to get the Estrada, Sor, Chocolatito fights, because he'd be irrefutably p4p #2 AT WORST with those wins, and arguably ahead of Canelo. But unfortunately he doesn't have those names, and even though I think he would've wrecked all of those guys except Estrada which would have been a competitive fight, I can't just credit him for something he hasn't achieved.

    But that's just my opinion.

Protected cash cows who only "win" certain fights because of hometown judging aren't P4P #1 material.

Canelo is about to turn 29, i'd say 28-31 is a fighters peak. Can Canelo be a top talent from 32+? Hell yeah, but his athleticism, legs, and reflexes will fade.

For me , & I'm being serious here, talent wise Canelo has a chance of reaching P4P status. BUT. His association with Oscar, his obviously blatant adjucating bias he's received & the bias shown him by the state commission
    tends to rule him out
