Why is Alexander Povetkin so highly regarded by the folks on this forum?

Great fighter for a smaller heavyweight.

    Top amateur-refined skillset

    Aggressive hooking style

    Still going at 38/39

    Top fighter

You do realize Duhaupas took the fight on literally one day’s notice with no training and had to actually borrow shoes in the locker room and that Povetkin was allowed to fight anyway after testing positive on PEDs and clearly still on full cycle for that ... in other words, how can you tout that as an accomplishment?
And as I recall, no one has ever been given great praise for beating Duhaupas — he’s a durable guy who, to his credit (I guess), was willing for a large fee to jump on a plane with no training and no shoes to fight a guy who without question was in the ring with the benefit of PEDs surging through his veins.

Chagaev? Please. What’s he ever done? Charr? Lol — he ‘has a belt’ now, yet I don’t seem to see him in any serious rankings (rightfully so). Takam is basically a durable punching bag. Perez was a shell of himself who had gone 1-1-1 since the Mago tragedy (and had zero meaningful wins other than Mago) with the one win against a guy who had lost like 17 of his last 18 fights.

And you’re touting these wins as if he had climbed some giant mountain. Any decent heavyweight should be able to run through those guys at the time and circumstances he fought them.

Perez claims to have been tipsy when he got in the ring for Povetkin.

Boxed 36 times professionally. Accomplished enough to be the clear third best HW since he debuted in 2005...

To ask such a question implies you are unaware of what's been happening in the HW division for the past 15 years (not that I would blame you!).

He fought and beat 34 opponents. Based on your posting, you wouldn't know who they were. That's for you to study up on.

Based on in-ring accomplishment, I've already told you.
