Why is Alexander Povetkin so highly regarded by the folks on this forum?

So I take it you arent going to list his accomplishments either.

    Funny that, Smoak wont either.

Well aren't you the childish jackass?

    Donald
    Byrd
    Chambers
    Chagaev
    Huck
    Rahman
    Charr
    Takam
    Perez
    Wach
    Duhaupus
    Price

It's a who's who at HW. Tack on all the notable journeyman as well.

Sorry since you apparently don't want to believe it, it bests everyone in the past 15 years other than the Klitschkos.

You are being as silly as someone who would claim Golovkin is not a notable MW of the past 15 years. There might not be a HOF'er on there, but that is a lot of names of accomplished fighters.

    Olympic Gold

    World Amateur Gold

2 defeats in 36 professional fights - both to giant Heavyweights who really are a clear weight class (or 2) above him

Actually, my claim wasn't far enough. Since his debut in 2005, Povetkin is superior to Vitali. Clearly so, too.

    Watch his fight against Klitschko.

Wlad didn't really separate himself from Povetkin in the skills dept. He won not because he was the better boxer , but because he was the bigger boxer who was allowed to get away with an outrageous amount of illegal holding.
A different ref could have yielded a different result. Povetkin was skilled enough to get through on Wlad and cut him down with combos. Wlad knew that , hence the human squid like performance.

Herol is a very silly boy sometimes, he walks away from threads when he gets found out...He also cant count, he thinks 22 and 25 is the same number, tried squeezing in 24 too..

Povetkin, stylistically, is my favourite heavyweight this generation.

    He's outrageously skilled and aggressive.

Just a bit too small, and with a style that can burn him out quickly, to be a unified champ. But an exceptional fighter. Even now at pushing 40

My other complaint is he should have fought more.

I've been on the forum for years. I must be the crazy sick weirdo in that I don't recall past exchanges and posting patterns of more than a very small handful of occasions and posters...

Yeah he should have been involved earlier, I agree.

But the same goes for a lot of old eastern block fighters. Ditto Golovkin

It's like their careers don't hit top speed til their already on a downward slope physically
