Whyte isn't a PPV star. He's just been shoved into PPV by Eddie and that's somehow deluded him into thinking he's entitled to PPV loot every single time now and it's also overinflated his opinion of himself as a heavyweight.

On topic, I don't think Eddie has the slightest bit of interest in the UK right now and its difficult for him because the fighters he used to use to fill up PPVs and Saturday night fight nights such as Khan, Brook, Haye, Froch, Groves, Bellew, Degale and Eubank have all retired or are fighting elsewhere and it's left Eddie with just one big name to play with and that's Joshua. He may never have a good a crop as that one again.

They're trying to shoehorn Buatsi as a PPV star but I don't see it happening as he won't cross over into the casual market. He doesnt have that personality needed.

 

The chickens are coming home to roost for Hearn.

I honestly think he thought Joshua would become undisputed and become the new PBF in America drawing 100s of mils fight in fight out.

As a result he's neglected the uk market which got him to this point and him and AJ were exposed as frauds in front of US audiences

He has no backup and now is having to panic rush AJ into a rematch with Ruiz where let's be honest, going off the first fight you have to make Joshua a substantial outsider.

Hearn's "takeover of america" was more spice girls than the Beatles.

 

Ruiz has came out today and said after he defeats Joshua again he wants to avenge his loss against Parker. That would be a big fight.

 

Buatsi would get fast tracked (hopefully not to his detriment).

Callum Smith would be pushed in to unifications.

Joe Cordina has huge potential but does he have selling potential to be a PPV star? I’m not too sure.

Josh Kelly, can’t see him reaching the top level.

Other than that can’t see any of the others being PPV stars.

I can imagine he would push one or two to career ending PPV’s similar to Brook. Kelly, Okolie, Brook v Crawford. I could also imagine if Joshua loses the rematch and doesn’t retire he could have a comeback against a Chisora type on PPV.

 

Yeah, also true. We don’t know quite what Ruiz’s contract situation is though. We know he will he looking for an improved one off Haymon or anyone else after this rematch, regardless of the result!

Eddie might fancy Parker to get the decision against him again though so let him go over to ESPN or whatever to fight.

 

I'm not convinced by Whyte. Let's not forget he was on his way to losing to Chisora until he caught him with a monstrous shot.

 

He’s a level (or two) below Joshua who’s (at present appears) a level below Fury and Wilder.

He lacks boxing ability and power (to an extent) but you can’t fault his heart and desire. No matter who he comes up against out of those 3 I see him valiantly falling short. I would like to see him against Pulev/Povetkin/Ortiz to see who’s the next best I suppose or an up and comer like Dubois/Hrgovic.

 

As much as I have a dislike for all things Eddie Hearn , he managed to make a PPV star out of Tony Bellew.

Snap Tommy Fury up on his release from Love Island, throw him in against Dave Allen and there you have it, Dave Allen PPV headliner ....

 

Whyte Parker did just short of 500k buys. The Chisora rematch did over 425k on the same night Warrington fought Frampton.

I'm not a massive Whyte fan and think all of the 'big three' beat him easy, but people moaning about him not being a PPV fighter seem to miss the point that he sells pretty well.

 

Maybe.
But Parker was fresh off a massive PPV against Joshua when they made Whyte-Parker. It's reasonable to suspect that Parker's name and standing accounted for a lot of the punters ...... and Chisora stole the show on that PPV with his KO of Takam ..... which probably accounts for a good share of the interest in the Whyte-Chisora PPV ....

I think Whyte-Rivas will be a good indication of what Whyte's PPV value really is.
Rivas is undefeated and a legitimate opponent but completely unknown to UK casuals - and not exactly proven to hard core boxing fans either.
