Immediately thought of Gavin Rees. I don’t think I’m counting Fielding. Bruno not worst but had lots of chances.

Herbie was decent and, for having the bravery to go in with anyone despite not being a natural Heavy at all, I couldn't put him in this bracket, I think he deserved his moment, nobody hit harder than Herbie around that time.

I feel like I'm being hard on Enzo in this thread but Herbie deserves credit purely for his Boxing Monthly interview sometime around 2007/08 when he went back down to cruiser and said something like 'Maccarinelli? Be serious. That boy looks like a f*cking ostrich.'

Burns won his Super Feather Weight title against a legitimate holder in Rocky Martinez (who had defended it a few times).

That was a cracking fight. There is no way Burns should be on the list.

I agree Hide should not be on the list

Just on the topic of Bruno only.

Bruno fought some very very good fighters in his time, Tim Witherspoon Bonecrusher smith Mike Tyson Lennox Lewis, and gave them all problems.

I am always of the belief that the first Tyson fight paved the way in showing Iron Mike could be beat, at the time Ring magazine reported the exact same thing, In fact the article headline was "Does the Bruno fight reveal Tyson can be beaten".

He gave Witherspoon problems until he gassed, bonecrusher too...

The Tyson fight, he hurt him many times to the body as well as rocking him to his boots in that second round, and if he would have been a little more flexible in his follow up he may have stopped him, Frank had a fight with him something most at the time everybody else would not do out of fear.

The Lewis fight he was by far the aggressor, and had the better early success even out jabbing LL, had him hurt and again came to have a fight, LL fought a smart but sneaky dirty fight.

Try and put any of the HWs in with that caliber today, them fights would never get made.

When he won his world title, he had earned it unlike a certain LL who was given it.

Hide was a good fighter, but his opponents made him look a lot better than he was, the constant replaying of the Conroy Nelson KO "RIP" set the standard for hyping RM fighters.

Much respect to him though for being given the Bowe fight, I was rooting for him and going crazy when Bowe almost swallowed...

Respect to Bowe also, who years later when asked who hit him the hardest, and whilst people awaited the answer expecting the usual answer, Holyfield etc etc.
He claimed it was Herbie Hide and admitted that he felt something that he had not felt before whilst getting hit, and if hide hit him again he would have been out of there!!

    Quality and honesty from Bowe...

I get where the guy is coming from and think he understood my point. I love bjs but that title fight was a farce.

Scott Quigg never really convinced me. In the same class as Crolla.

Decent to a level but... I just felt he was lacking that extra oomph required.

I see he hasn't boxed since late 2018. Anyone know what the script is? Last I read was that he was based out on the West Coast of the USA.

Maybe we have different definitions of champions as for me I can't foresee there being 4 champions, so I think the abc belts are not to be taken seriously. Name me one moment in time were Groves was the best super middleweight in the world? I'm not saying these guys are crap and I thought I mate that clear in my original post. Groves is one of my favourite fighters to watch in all of boxing history. A perfect blend if brains and brawling. I love the guy and I'm happy he won a world title. I'm not gunna put on my st George tinted glasses and say at any point he was definitely the best and I think it goes to show just 3 fights later he nearly got decapitated by Callum Smith who again is a great fighter but will need to do a lot to become a ATG in my opinion.
As for with Joshua it might be a dislike. I do think again he is a great fighter but I would pick so many in history to beat him and a few in present times also. I think he is the 3rd best of his generation. I'm not writing him off now he's lost to Ruiz. The day after dilian Whyte fight I had a wager with my neighbour even money that fury beats him which not many people was saying at the time. None of that was even my point, my point was AJs road to becoming a champion was too easy for my liking. As stated I believe Martin was paid off and so was that Italian ref. He even got a belt for going life to death with a washed up inactive fighter who lost two years beforehand to Tyson Fury.

I've stated easy well known modern day ones in hope that people more knowledgeable than myself can show me some cool examples.

I'll throw one in, now, listen, I acknowledge the WBO wasn't really recognised back then but it was still a world title and respected today.

Some of you whipper snappers won't remember this and some of you wouldn't have been born.

A British fighter called Paul "Silky" Jones won the WBO Super Wleterweight title in 1995.

Where do I started.. OK let's start at the beginning of his professional career.

After 7 fights "Silky" was 3-3-1.. not very impressive.

Afte his 7th fight he went on a little run of 3 wins then dropped another decision, then had another couple of wins and then dropped another decision.

He had a patchy career (being kind) and then at 20-8-1 got a shot at the WBO Inter-Continental title, SILKY WON.

Then he made two defences, one against Danny Juma 2-2-1 (Yes that record is correct)
Then another against Eric Spalding 14-1-0

Then Paul Silky Jones won the WBO Super Welterweight Title against Verna Phillips.

Never defended the title, and went back to domestic level, won the commonwealth title and failed in attempt at winning the IBO Super Middleweight title.

Have a look at him on Boxrec, it's a career that is slightly bizarre to look at, hardly any recognisable names on it, but one stands out Simon Eubank, Yeah Chris Srs brother, Silky beat him.

And maybe Adrian Dodson, right at the end of his career, but other than that you are really struggling to remember any of his opponents.

    Anyway he was WBO Champion.

I suppose it also depends how you count the WBA regular belt - you could argue that he was not a true world champ as someone else held the full fat version of the WBA belt at the same time

Cleverly, Rees and Barker (despite being a nice guy) would be my 3

I was being kind to Quigg.

Blame the Alphabets, not the Boxers when it comes to the belts.
