Ukrainian heavyweight prospect Vladyslav Sirenko (12-0, 11 KOs) just scored seventh-round TKO win over Russian journeyman Denis Bakhtov (39-16, 26 KOs). Before the fight Sirenko said he wants to get some rounds and he got plenty of them today. Sirenko's jab worked really, really well - Bakhtov's face looked horrible because of it at the end of the fight. His right hand also worked pretty well, but Sirenko's best punch (left hook) was almost non-existent in the first hlf of the fight. Announcers eevn thought he injured his left hand, but I think Sirenko was just unsure in throwing his left hook until it will be 100% guaranteed to land. And he fdinally did it in the seventh round, prompting referee to stop the fight. Here is the last round of this fight: This content is protected
Previously you asked whether Bakhov was a step-up for Sirenko. He definitely was. Even at 39 years old. Vlad will grow up as a boxer fighting such (and better) guys, not by knocking some random "uber drivers" in the first round. I liked how Sirenko looked today. He also proved that he has a good chin (well, at least it's definitely not a glass one). The whole fight is here (at 1:20): https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...ladyslav-sirenko-vs-denis-bakhtov-rbr.631795/
Well, let's say it wasn't very logical, indeed. Bakhtov took a big left hand, but he was still thinking clearly, did the right thing — tried to clinch, but the ref still decided to stop the fight. More like a mercy stoppage.
A little disconcerting it took him that long, considering what a destroyer Sirenko is being sold as. Of his eight stoppage losses, this is the second-longest it has ever taken anyone (longest since he fought Sinan Samil Sam in 2004) to dust off Bakhtov..
Considering the last fights of Bakhtov, Sirenko DEFINITELY did worse than guys like Hussein Muhammed, Evgeny Romanov oder Petar Milas. The stoppage today was a JOKE.
So what? I even removed Sirenko from watch-list at boxrec some time ago (last year, I guess), but today I've added him again. He's not completely hopeless.
Romanov might have got rid of Bakhtov in 1 round but his last fight he had to go 10 vs a fringe guy Dave Allen put away tko7. Sirenko needed some rounds anyway.
Dave Allen didn't stop the guy, the Ref stopped the fight and not because Allen destroyed him or the guy couldn't walk. You need to rewatch that if you want to make an example here.
Hussein beat his ass badly. He quit and spit out his mouth piece like 100 times so the ref dq'd him. His face in the third round looked like he ran into a truck lmao. Sirenko couldn't even hurt him.
BTW, Bracamonte, who went tha distance against Romanov, was KO'ed in the first round by Robutti whom Sirenko knockled out cold in his previous fight.
