Joshua won the IBF title in 2016 and defended it 6 times as well as becoming a unified heavyweight champion making 3 defences as unified champion. He also beat many high level Fighters with a record of 22-0 with 21 knockouts until the upset to Ruiz. If he was to never come back just how good was the Joshua era?

Well its not bad is it. There is an endless list of decent fighters who plied their trade at the top end of this division and never achieved any of that.

He won the IBF belt from a big fat bum called Charles Martin who won it off glaskov

Fury, the true king of the division was stripped of that belt after less than 2 weeks after beating Wlad

This is the Fury era you dosser. The man who ended Klitscko reign. The man who was unmovable in the face of an unstoppable force.

Aj burst into the scene beating EE household names:
    F.Flintstone & B.Rubble
Gary Cornfist & One armed Whyte
    Last legs Wlad & 5'10 S.Povet

Then loses to Andy "Ham" Ruiz.
    British hype job.

Aj had Hollywood behind him for some reason. Brainwashed gullible Brits.

I'm just sad Wilder didn't get to slaughter AJ in England. The tears wouldve flood London

Has any heavyweight champion won a belt in as few fights as Joshua? If not there has to be some legacy just for that. (Just remembered Spinks beat Ali in his 7th fight oh well)

He also won a belt with a 100% KO rate, i’m Pretty sure that is some sort of record at heavyweight.

Hard to call it the Joshua era retrospectively, I think if he is indeed finished as a champion, it will come to be known as the post-Klitschko era over time as there was no truly dominant fighter up until recently in Fury who was inactive during much of that time period. I’m not quite willing to call it the Fury era yet though, he deserves all the credit in the world for beating Klitschko and Wilder, but he needs the belts and I’m certain he’ll some business to sort with Usyk and a few other fighters. The past 3 and a half years have been very entertaining overall.

Because apparently someone very forgettable called Glazkhov was the IBF's outstanding mandatory contender so Fury had to fight him or be stripped. No exemptions were made.

Joshua didn't own an "era" . He has a "reign" though, as unified champion.

His reign as "champion" was pretty poor. The first 3 fights for the IBF belt (Charles Martin, Dominic Breazeale, Eric Molina) were bums fights for a joke paper title.
He then faced and beat Wlad (somehow picking up another belt against a man coming off a loss), Takam, Parker (another belt) and Povetkin which were a good bit better (although 3 of those 4 were old men .... at ages 36, 39, 41).

In terms of achievement it isn't particularly impressive if we judge it by true "world champion" standards, but for a relative novice professional it was very good work.
Of course, Joshua's true achievements are in the commercial sphere. He made a lot of money, sold a a lot of PPVs and drew very large crowds in the UK.

Fury was inactive or fighting tune-ups on his comeback trail for almost all of Joshua's reign as World champ. No way can any of 2016 - 2018 be referred to as the Fury era.
If Joshua retired today, he'd be remembered as a decent heavyweight champ who achieved very well in a short space of time, but with a big question mark about what he could have gone on to do had he not earned so much so quickly.
I'm pretty sure he's not done though and has the desire and (albeit flawed in certain respects) ability to get back to the top. I do agree that he won't dominate though and belts will probably change hands fairly frequently over the coming years.

    What era?

"A long and distinct period of history with a particular feature or characteristic."
    • "a system of chronology dating from a particular noteworthy event."

AJ doesnt describe either of these things. His reign wasn't long nor distinct and it sure as hell wasn't noteworthy. He`ll be looked at as just another guy 20 years from now. Of course this is based on him losing again to Ruiz and riding off into obscurity never to be heard from on a high level again.
