Would Bowe 1992 Be too Much For Marciano ?

I don't hold Bowe in really high regard ,a tad overated . But the night he beat Holyfield !!
If Riddick faced Rocky as the Challenger , would the 0 vanish from Marciano s record along with the title ?

 

I can see a good case either way.

Bowe's size and in fighting wouldn't be good for Rocky, but he might also just throw away his range advantage, and left himself get caught.

I'm sure it'd be one of the most exciting ever.

Can see Bowe going for the ko very early , thinking if Walcott can drop him I sure can !
Early rounds are a danger for Rocky , he'd have to use everything to get through it .

Especially inside. That said, I look at Marciano as being a significantly higher ATG than Bowe.

There aren't many fighters I'd put past the 1992. On the night he beat Holyfield I think Foreman, Frazier, Tyson, post-1984 Holmes, any of the not-Holmes heavyweights of the 80s, Patterson, Liston, Lewis...I think he would have beaten any of them.

However, I rate all the above fighters above Bowe as ATGs, partly because of the brevity of Bowe's spotlight. He peaked in the first Holy fight, and then was a bit spotty after (as Futch pointed out).

 

Trying to fight Rocky on the inside, strikes me as being a very bad idea for a man Bowe's size.

Same here .I have Bowe at around 30 in a list of 100 but on that night ,as you say ,he'd beat a lot of the top twenty .He was a fighting , powerful machine and proved a few wrong .

 

Bowe definitely had the best chin out of anyone rocky fought, unlike rocky he was a fast starter with great combos all behind his long powerful jab.

I'd wager Bowe hurts him early and finishes rocky by t.k.o. mid rounds.

 

Unless he hurts and staggered Marciano , then it wouldn't be to his detriment as much . Bowes uppercut s would do serious damage .

 

I suspect that Bowe would just get in his own way on the inside.

Now it he used his reach, it might be a different matter.

 

One has to really hate Marciano a lot if you want to match him against prime Bowe.........one look at Bowe and Marciano's handlers would never ever consider that fight. fact.....they would be running for the exit in record speed.

This aint no old balding Pensioner , this is one of the most talented Big man ever.....with a short prime.

Bowe inside, outside, it would not matter, he would beat Rocky from pillar to post..........Marciano's crouching would be tailor made for Bowe's upper cuts.......

Result: search party for Marciano's head in the cheap seats.....and fairly early too.
