You're going way back in time for this one and I'm just not one of those people who believe the old timers are a greater breed of fighters than fighters today. And I won't even pretend to be know much about fighters that far back into the past, but I do know this — the human body just isn't capable of sustaining and fighting truly elite opposition that often. Rematches with multiple people in the double digits? Fighting every week or every other week? Even truly gifted physical specimens like Pac and Floyd are not physically capable of fighting elite fighters more than 3X a year. Pac and Marquez cannot fight 10 times and not be completely ruined and these two are teak tough hard ass men. It's just not possible. I'm probably not explaining myself well, so let me try and use a baseball example... the elite pitchers of old, the ones known for throwing 200+ pitches every game and notching double digit complete games in a season, simply would not be able to do that today against the likes Mike Trout, JD Martinez, Miguel Cabrera, and other elite hitters. The best hitters of the past would most likely not able to compete with the elite likes of Verlander, Kershaw (prime), Scherzer, or really any flamethrower.

I know what you mean, I think that these guys wouldn't do overly well today if they were to have a career. I think they'd beat most LHWs, MWs and WWs in H2H matches but I can't see him having as great a career in Pacquiaos era as he did in his own, and visa versa. As a British kid I don't know a thing about Baseball

My post wasn't to try and convince anyone to changing their minds, just to show off my knowledge honestly lol and to show that there are people I'd rate above Pacquiao.

Also Wills vs Langford was an 18/17 fight series (I think). Imagine Marquez and Pacquiao fighting 18 times!

The Red Sox and the Yankees are in London! It's baseball's biggest rivalry. I'm not a huge baseball fan, but it's the sport I watch most after boxing. They will play 2 games — the only 2 ever Major League Baseball games ever played in Europe!

Dunno about crawford. But spence looks timid to me. He ran the entire rd after being wobbled by Lartey.

I think in fairness your agreeing Pac is maybe the best ever then, look how far your going back to find someone to go against his achievements mate...Pac isn't my favourite fighter all time either, but I think he has the achievements and resume to be rated the best ever, ive never seen a career like it, undersized in most of his big fights too. Im not all familiar with Langfords career and this may sound ignorant bro, but theres never been a lightweight that could move up and beat a heavyweight champion, or a decent heavyweight champion imo, I don't know wtf happened there in a fighter starting at lightweight and the heavyweight champion was scared of him because hed flatten him !!!

I didn't need to go that far back I was doing it because Langford is my number 1 pick

Ali, Charles, Leonard, Duran, Hearns and Mayweather

As well as maybe a few others are more recent greats I'd rate over Pacquiao, I have him at 30ish
Harry Wills, Sam McVea, Joe Jeanette and Jeff Clark were all very good heavyweights, in fact other than Clark they'd all make my top 25, and a past prime half blind Langford KOed them all.
There's also reports from some that believe Langford was robbed against Jack Johnson, yes, a prime Jack Johnson.
He really is like a super hero.
See you say that no Light weight could beat a decent HW, there have actually been a few instances of this around the time
Mickey Walker, started off in his first few fights weighing under the LW, he then moved all the way up to HW and gave some respectable names there hard times
Willie Meehan, started off as a Flyweight and beat Langford at HW and Jack Dempsey himself
There's probably more but there just off the top of my head

This proves to me how serious Boxing has become since those sketchy days, flyweights and lightweights beating heavies is totally unachievable these days

Mayweather comes closest to Pac, the rest I don't believe achieved the same as the little guy coming up as great as they all are obviously, but that's an opinion of course, some will laugh. Ali I think out of those mentioned is overrated, people go stupid on his h2h chances all time

Read up on Ezzard Charles, he's definitely greater than Mayweather and Pacquiao imo, to me I rate Longevity, Weight Movement and Résumé as how to define a fighter, with more emphasis on Résumé, Sugar Ray Leonard has a much better résumé than Pacquiao and moved up 5 weights

His Hagler fight was timing, a good win but Leonard thought a lot like Mayweather. Nobody has a "much better" resume than Pac mate, no one ever..Them old boys you mentioned are to way back, is there any footage of them you mentioned and i'll go watch them, brush up ?

A win over prime Roberto Duran, Wilfred Benitez and Tommy Hearns, a past prime Marvin Hagler is definitely a better résumé than Pacs imo
If you want to know who has a 'much' better résumé than Pac, start a thread about it in Classic, should get some good responses from the guys over there

    Ezzard Charles

Mayweather was fighting hasbeens. When leonard beat duran, hagler, hearns, benitez, they weren’t recently removed from a loss. Let alone ko losses(in the cases of hoya, cotto, pacquiao, all had been stopped within 3 years prior, ontop of already being past prime). Shouldn’t be compared to leonard.
