Joe Calzaghe's Worst Performance?

Was it Kabary Salem, Sakio Bika, Robin Reid, or someone else?

 

The Reid fight was a far worse performance than the Bika fight, Reid was nowhere near world class but Joe was still green and easier to hit with counter rights at that stage, Bika was a far harder fighter to beat than Reid.

 

Reid was definitely world class

 

He lost to an average fighter like Malinga who himself lost to Benn and Eubank, despite beating Benn in their rematch, he also lost to Lacy who was completely exposed by a much more mature version of Calzaghe.

 

I hear you, but Bika lost to Sam Soliman by majority decision and Bika was also unable to stop Andre Thysse

Reid also won bronze at the Olympics. Doesn't that make him world class

 

No, Audley Harrison won a gold medal at the Olympics and was nowhere near world class at all.

 

Reid was spent by the Lacy fight. He did, however get totally robbed against Ottke years past his best.

 

Calzaghe has a number of flat performances when the opponent wasn’t on his level. Thornberry, Starie for example stand out. I think he was bored by them. Probably the worst performance was Salem though.

He won it over a very weak field that year.

 

I don't just read Boxrec, I actually watch the fights. He was clearly world class.

 

I recall the Starie fight was when Warren tried bringing Joe to America. Joe didn't look too good in that one. So they took him back across the pond to feast in the UK some more.

 

I saw Reid`s fight with Malinga and he hardly threw a punch.

 

Yes that`s my point some medals won at the olympics are in a strong field and others in a weak field, Reid didn`t even win gold.

 

That was a bad performance, he was world class though.
