Exactly. Most people can afford this PPV the same way they can afford to play FOBT's at the bookies or similar but choose not to because they aren't stupid enough to be conned and value the money they earn.

But the reason this fight stands out is because it doesn't appear to be PPV worthy from a UK point of view. No British fighter plus early hours time. Pacquaio is well known but he's old, and nobody except boxing fans have heard of Thurman.

 

It's absolutely not PPV worthy from a UK perspective, no argument there. In terms of why it has been put on PPV, there may be some truth to this:

Alternatively, maybe they've just figured that anybody who stays up to watch it IS obviously a big boxing fan so maybe given the success of PPV lately, they can try their luck?

 

It is not PPV worthy from any point of view - no different to Joe Calzaghe making a comeback and fighting a rematch with Gavin & Stacey on PPV.

Pac bled the PPV Mugths dry with the fight against Fraud where he was absolutely rotten, he bled the Oz Mugths dry when he was absolutely rotten against a limited Hornet yet there are a cohort of mugths who never learn.

 

What idiot would buy this? Why are ITV once again bothering with a fight that will make them buttons? They're ITV ffs, not some tin pot streaming service. I just don't get it.

 

Several Pacman fights from years ago were PPV in the UK thanks to the now defunt Primetime cable channel. No wonder it didn't last long.

I was also looking forward to this fight, but really only to see that absolute paper champion Thurman who has literally been gifted 2 belts at 147 (the wba upgraded him from interim worthless trinket), fought no one really decent, go life and death with a shot to hell Collazo, get well beaten by a well past his best 40 year old pacquiao.
