He failed to really rock Leapai and, more worrying for me,he allowed himself to be backed into corners, instead of pivoting out and turning his man.I don't think he's deteriorated ,but he hasn't improved significantly either.
True . I wanted to cee much more , got da job done tho . Parker next be interesting to cee witch way all this is goin ..
Parker has been done since his testes shrunk to the size of jellybeans vs. Joshua. Ruiz jr got better, and IMO would beat him in a rematch as he now knows what Parker is all about. Parker will play it safe and try to out box his man, if he cannot he'll revert to a safety first heavyweight. What can you say, some guys don't like to get hit. The puzzling part is Parker can take a punch if needed. I think whatever fire Parker had when he started boxing is gone for good.
Aren't they all in their early days? At least the ones who can punch. Yes-- I felt Parker was a top ten talent on the way up too. I did not know he had such as weak stomach to the game when things got tougher. Sometimes you just don't know until they move up. Parker is more a boxer type now with a shorter than average reach.
Parker? Pivot? Don't think iv'e ever seen it. Pivoting isn't in Barry's thin training manual. Barry's idea of punch avoidance is moving straight back, hands down, chin in air. Pivoting would have worked wonders vs Leapai, a guy shelling up to every jab jab cross. They still seem to be obsessed with the double jab as the key to victory.
Im not sure how much Parker was even up for this fight. He looked a little lethargic and a bit softer round the middle than he can be. I like Parker but he frustrates me, he makes himself average, he makes fights harder or uglier than they need to be. The most frustrating thing is all the stuff he doesnt do to really improve his game he can actually do. He can throw a great jab, he can work tidily on the inside without actually smothering his own work, he shows really good footwork. But all in tiny little spells just now and again, flashes of a real top level game but then he doesnt use all those things all of the time. The best do. He doesnt, but he could. I like Kevin Barry but there is more to Parker than we get fight to fight.
No, and Iv Met him and I know him for the good guy he is He was jabbing, then occasionally doing a combo an stepping back....he didn’t want to hurt lepai, ‘his brother’ Parker wanted the ref/corner mercy stoppage or it was going to points
