If gerald McClellan hadn't gotten brain damage and stuck with steward over stan, where would he be?

And how would he rank? Manny wanted him to start working more on defence and setting up his jab more than just rushing in. I'm fairly certain if this was the case he would have beaten and probably knocked out nigel benn, considering he came in light to fight benn he may have just stayed in the super middleweight and not gone up to light heavy until late career. Opinions?

He would have been the next Thomas Hearns imo, maybe a bit less skilled than Hearns but with a better chin and clearly more punching power.

Good point. Eubank was a wily sod, with a granite chin - and would have made it an ugly fight for McClellan. Collins was a wily sod as well with a chin not far off Eubanks. Benn simply refused to be beaten by McClellan.

Some would say better, he never touched the canvas ever did he ?? imo a rare thing when you could say maybe even tougher than Eubank
I firmly believe if McClellan entered the ring with no injuries, he would've wrecked Benn. The fight should never have happened, GM had trouble in sparring

Read that his brain/head problems started after the bombs from Jackson.
    Anyone know more?

Correct mate. They had to stop sparring leading up to the Benn fight also

As soon as he fought someone skilled and with a good chin he would have always been exposed.

I think good but not great, which is where he stands now. I can’t shake the images of Toney and Hearns basically toying with him in sparring.

Pretty certain Eubank knocked Collins down funnily enough.

Mcclellan had the beating of Benn, he had him hurt multiple times and in reality won in the first round. His injury was getting worse after that and it hampered him, without that he would have beaten a determined Benn. Hard to say that as a Benn fan but he was hurt bad later in the fight and was going to be finished, then Mcclellan couldn't continue. Whatever he was as a person, he was a beast in the ring, with his killer mentality, iron jaw and power, he would have went on to be one of the greats I think, even if he managed a few more years before imploding mentally.

The best Benn ive seen v McClellan healthy, and its a 2/3 round fight. Benn would be destroyed, all wrong for him
