No need, my friend! It’s an interesting topic that I enjoyed reading. I don’t post much but I always enjoy reading here in classic. Occasionally I’ll try to put together a halfway decent post if I have something to add. Hopefully something I say hits home for someone...or on a good day, maybe I make one of the old timers chuckle. The irony here is that it probably took me a half hour to write all that...and damn it, I probably could have squeezed in a fight! Hah
Every March 3rd for 17 hrs with 2 1/2 hr breaks for Acey/Duecy. On June 16th 4 hrs and 47 minute if it lands on a Tuesday thru Friday. 3hrs and 23 minutes if it lands on Saturday thru Monday. Of course add 7 minutes each leap yr. On July 11th I watch 7 2 rd KO fights unside down while hanging from the western style chandelier. 8 4 rd KO fights if the chandelier is in Mariska Hargatay's house On October 16th, 7 straight hrs of Frank Fletcher victories in honor of the day Stanley Ketchel and Victor Galindez didn't die. On November 6th thru January 17th I can watch as I please. As long as I keep a one-eyed dog in the third floor bathroom. February15th 9 hrs 24 minutes starting at 8 at night. That's it. Great thread! Kudos
Oh yeah! My Dad was a Marine fighter pilot in WWII and brought that way to play back. I wish I had learned pinochle before my parents aunts and uncles died.
Often......but never fighters of the last 15 years....I dont watch amateur boxing.....mostly from the great era of boxing from the 1910s thru the forties with some monzon.....arguello....Duran in there
I try to read about 10 boxing books a years along with the other books I read. Read the Ring Magazine religiously. Have never watched on YouTube but watch all the boxing shows that I can, maybe 4 hours a week or more. Have a large (15 TB) hard drive with fights so am pretty well covered for content.
Quite often… but only fighters of the last 15 years or so... mostly from this great era, where boxers from former communist countries are now playing a major role, thus lifting the standard of boxing to new heights… though also with some SRR... Louis... Pep thrown in there every now and then.
Depends on what mood I'm in tbh I think, watch and write about boxing everyday which I'm told is quite sad... I train most days, only really taking Fridays and Saturdays off if I'm doing something. I read what I can get my hands on but money's pretty tight and I get paid in cash so I can't really order anything
Everyday baby! And, regarding books etc, that's what the Internet is for. Just gotta know where to look. Some are old enough to be public domain.
I mean here is probably the largest source of boxing knowledge around and I learn alot just reading through certain posters stuff anyway, yes I'm looking at you and @BitPlayerVesti I tend to spend Sunday in bed watching any fights from Saturday night and then if I'm doing a "the thread" the fights I'd need to for that or a just a fight I've read about but not seen (just this morning I watched Moore vs Durrele 1, great fight) Or just try and hone in some fight scoring skills
I'd also recommend watching amateur bouts. Also, you can find old threads and posters better by searching on Google, rather than the site search. This is what I did to learn about people like Chang. I'd literally type in, for example, '(Jung Koo Chang) boxing forum' and find a wealth of older threads by posters like Confucius, Mantequilla, TheGreatA etc. Really helpful stuff.
Stopped watching years ago, as I'm mostly into earlier times that have little or no footage. Haven't seen a single Anthony Joshua fight, for example, and was rather annoyed with lots of threads with his name appearing in the Classic every now and then, then someone named Andy Ruiz replacing him. Andy Who? I don't care.
