Paint Dry Parker. Nice guy but the perennial "quite good" contender.

No Parker did not fight better. Wlad won more rounds and scored knockdown. Parker vs Joshua scorecards:
• Judge: Steve Gray 118-110
• Judge: Ian Scott 119-109
• Judge: Steve Weisfeld 118-110

Kevin Johnson and Baden Oui also KO'd Leapai faster and like you said Leapai wasn't old for those losses, he was 39 for Parker.

Leapai was a safety fight for Parker as he only won 2 of his last 6 fights.

Sometimes when we fight guys that are supposed to better then us, we rise to the occasion and we have a helluva fight. Sometimes high level guys who know that the next opponent is an easy fight and they are expected to win, they dont fight so good. I expected a 3-4 round stoppage win for Parker tbh. Leapai fought like a good journeyman does and made sure he wasnt the easy meat that many of us thought he should of been.

It was a stay busy fight for Parker and I wouldnt use this fight to guage anything about Parker. I think we might venture to say that while his power is good, but it is not great. Well not that we have seen at the higher level.

completely disagree,Parker has the jab and footwork to outpoint Ruiz. He didnt make the same mistakes that Joshua did in looking to trade,i think he beats Ruiz 10/10 times.

Even from what we saw last night - we can see how Parker can deal with guys the size of Ruiz.

Parker beats Ruiz again in my view

It won't be a walk on a beach, tough fight for Parker. I feel in a venue like Vegas a close fight goes to Ruiz. In NZ it might be another story for obvious reasons.

I don't need Weisfeld's opinion. I have eyes and so do plenty others that I respect that agree with me. One fighter across those two fights was KTFO. If you feel Parker won only two rounds, you are a legitimate fool.

Good performance? No, that was not a good performance. Leapai was a punching bag. There isn't a current boxer ranked in the top 10 that wouldn't have dominated Leapai last night.

Leapai wasn't brought in to show the world that Parer can dominate an aging 39 year old boxer for 12 rnds. Leapai was brought in to showcase a Parker KO because Wilder scored a spectacular KO and Fury dominated and then KOed his opponent early.

Parker even admitted in the interview that he wanted and tried for the early KO. He couldn't do it and decided to just box. Parker couldn't finish a 39 year old, slow, and inactive fighter that others have.

Agreed. As such he performed exactly like you would expect someone in the top ten to perform. Am I missing something here?

Ftfy. A KO was clearly the plan, but....

... this. They can't afford to slip on a banana-skin right now, so while they probably could have got the KO they decided when it wasn't a first/second round KO it was probably wiser just to shut him out... which he did.

Yes - and Leapai does have a great chin.

Comfortable night at the office for Parker. Very dominant - shook off some rust - got some rounds in.

Next onto Chisora and the "money" fights again.

Parker doesn't have the killer instinct to bang out the super HWs, which is why he looked so poor against Joshua & Whyte (mostly). But he's a horrible matchup for Ruiz, who has leaden feet and can be outboxed. I would favor Parker against him again.

Overall he's nothing great, but he can box and will trouble certain guys.

Yes, you are missing something here. Anyone in contender position can outbox a can for 12 rnds. What separate contender from the rest is you get cans out of there. Unlike Parker they would have a KOed a punching bag put in front of him.

And I really got a good laugh when you said it was wise for him to play it safe. This is Leapai. LMAO!!!! Leapai is inactive slow 39 year old that took the fight on short notice.

I see all the Parker threads. So I understand his detractors feel he gets a lot of attention...

But he's been a top 5 heavy for years now. He has proven his class. And his detractors fuel the flame much more than his fanboys at least on this site, two fold at least from what I see (?). I find him to be underrated and hated on, why I support him. Not even a fan of him, although I like him since he seems like one of the coolest boxers around in interviews with nothing to point to the contrary.
