The show was called “superstars” and it was a competition among top athletes in different sports. They would bike, swim, lift weights, run. Frazier competed in 73 and it was a fiasco. Frazier is ranked as one of the worst ever to compete on this program culminating in nearly drowning during the swimming competition. Joe also showed very badly during the weightlifting competition.

Nobody thinks Ruiz is 6’2” or that he has a 74” reach.

He was CONSIDERABLY smaller than Joshua and COMING FORWARD.

    Ruiz is fighting modern giants.

A morbidly obese Marciano would be no different.

He showed badly in the weight lifting because he had no understanding of lifting technique,as one of the other competitors observed ,he said he thought Frazier would walk it but when he saw him lifting he knew he wasn't in with a chance. The event does not reflect on Frazier's strength and swimming and cycling certainly do not! Had arm wrestling been one of the events I'm sure Frazier would have been hot favourite to win it!

Yes he would, he would still be 4 inches shorter with 6inches less reach! And even slower than he was!
I'm also saying if Joshua had landed that left hook on Marciano that put Ruiz down, it could well have been Goodnight Rocky!

Ruiz is like 40-50 Pounds more solid muscle than Rocky!

    This board makes me sick!

Rocki stronger than Frazier??? Where are the Alis, Bugners, Bonavenas, Chuvalos and Foremans Rocki had to face?

Is that so hard to get?

    Stocky boxer size hierarchy:

    WW---< --MW----<-----LHW/CW----<-----CW/HW----<----HW
    Duran < LaMotta < Rocki/Patterson < Frazier/Quarry < Tyson/Tua

Ruiz has no solid muscle. He is a overweight pig of a fighter. Marciano was totally trained down with obviously low body fat.

Question would be if Ruiz was as trained down as Marciano what would he weigh?

However the real question the overriding question is why is such an emphasis placed upon weight in the hwt division? Reach, weight, height are the last things to be considered and indeed they may have no bearing whatsoever in the outcome of a fight.

The underlined is just about the most fatuous comment I have ever heard about boxing!

There is no objection evidence that shows that either fighter was stronger than the other. Weight is not evidence of physical strength. Marciano was a trained down 187 pound fighter. Joe even at his best carried more fat that Marciano. Joe as trained down as Marciano would be a sub 200 lb hwt.

No it’s very true. As an example...

Reach. How you use your reach or how you are able to use your reach is important. Reach in of itself means nothing. Tyson with ultra short reach outjabbed almost every fighter he faced who had longer reach as one example. It’s not reach its speed, timing, technique that matters.

. Ruiz was visibly about 6 inches shorter than Joshua. He still hit Joshua enough.

Rocky would be 4 inches shorter than George Foreman. You don’t think Rocky can hit George?

You have no way of knowing if Joshua had landed that left hook on Marciano that put Ruiz down, it could well have been “Goodnight Rocky!” No way of knowing that at all.

He’s considerably fatter than Rocky yes.

Ruiz has tiny feet. He’s not supposed to be that fat. He is a very short heavyweight. He is not even a tall man.

Ruiz is twice as fast as Marciano ,he also his very good defensively he keeps his hands up all the time.
Marciano would be 5 inches shorter than Foreman and inside 2 rounds, he would be murdered.
