Gym Flooring

There is a special flooring called a: "Poured Epoxy Floor."
It comes in tinted clears, and colors. It is as tough as 7734, and looks like a million bucks.
Youtube has some videos on how to prep your floor, and apply it for the best results.
Please study many videos because there are a few kooks out there with bad info looking to dis you!

As for me, I like painting the floor white, and then put down a blue tinted clear on top of that.
It is tough as nails ,and it reflects a lot of light. You do not want a dark floor because you can spend $10,000 on lighting, and there still won't be enough light. (Been there: done that! ... It Sux!) I did an auto shop floor in an all white enamel paint once, and it brightened up the shop on a massive scale. After two days the enamel paint was still sticky so I tossed corn starch all over the floor, and swept it back, and forth.
It finished drying in an hour, or two.

So, if you are as poor as a church mouse like me, just use the white enamel paint, you'll be glad you did.
If you want that wood grain look, you can use boiled linseed oil, and it will bring back the luster.
I met somebody who swears by using corn oil. She said the wood swells, and closes up the cracks between the boards, and it brings back that nice wood grain look too!

 

Our first gym of our own, my brother and I found a metal building bay that had been used as a temporary church, haha. For whatever reason they had painted the floor bright red over the concrete.

We used some kind of clear epoxy over that because theirs was very slick when sweat or condensation collected. Ended up a shiny, slightly reflective red finish that looked great, had great traction and gave us our own unique look. Pretty sticky at first but after a week or so it had caught enough dust and dirt from feet that it stopped ‘grabbing’ shoe bottoms and just allowed a good grip.
