Hi all There are many threads regarding Muhammad Ali vs the elite heavyweights of today...but what do you all think of my number 2 rated heavyweight of the last 40 years -against this group? Allow me to specify the 15 round format that governed the title fights during his era. Holmes vs Tyson Fury - Holmes by unanimous decision Holmes vs Deontay Wilder - Holmes by TKO round 13 Holmes vs Andy Ruiz - Holmes by unanimous decision Holmes vs Anthony Joshua - Holmes by TKO round 9
All 4 would hit Holmes with far more right hands than Shavers and all four are far better fighters than Shavers was, AJ, Wilder and Ruiz would do real damage, all four of them would have beaten Shavers more convincingly than Holmes did.
I think he'd struggle with Fury and Ruiz the most for different reasons although I'd still favour him. I need to see more of these guys vs good comp before saying they beat Holmes. He'd annihilate Wilder and give Joshua a much needed boxing lesson. They both have a puncher's chance, though.
All no problemo for the Easton Assassin. Only Fury hears the final bell but it wont be close. Holmes was the master of disaster
Me, too. I think he would outwork Fury, even though he would have to adapt to his size. He would be too quick for Joshua and stop him late. He would pepper Ruiz all night and outclass Wilder. At least one of the last three might drop him at some point, though.
Fury gives him the most issues. Deontay is a wild card. Ruiz hangs tough and has his moments. Joshua has no hope I still favor Holmes over each. But favor is merely a percentage over 50.
That's how sad boxing has become to match Holmes with these 4 … I mean these guys have managed what? One freggin fight between all of them … how many times has AJ, Fury, and Wilder all fought each other? Holmes is on a different planet then these guys ….. They belong in General, not Classic
