I’d just like to tell the forum TBooze is referring to the fighter and not making any reference to the sad events at the Manchester Arena in 2017. Adam Smith
Sorry but I couldn't disagree with you more on Hughie vs Ruiz. Hughie just doesn't have the offensive arsenal to keep Ruiz honest. Ruiz can throw for the full 12 and would get the decision on work rate alone, even if he missed with 95% of his punches as Hughie is still far too negative and against Ruiz, that negativity would be on display yet again. Hughie has enough talent to be a ever present addition to the top 15 if only he would sit down on his punches a little more often and stick with the jab rather than back hand flicks. He just needs to gain more confidence in his ability and use it more offensively.
Got very high on Eubank Jnr. as I was a huge fan of his old man back in the day and figured if he had 50 % of snrs. genetic make up, he'd go on to achieve at world level. Thought he would outwork BJS (doh!), and be too fresh and aggressive for Groves (oh dear). Honestly thought AJ would put a sustained beating on Ruiz, leading to a late stoppage. Thought Hamed would KO Barrera in devastating fashion in the second half of the fight. Fancied Herbie Hide due to his speed and power against both Vitali and Bowe (WTF was I thinking). Fancied Brook to decision Spence on his home turf aswell. There's quite a few more going back, a lot of which were as a result of my pro British bias and going with my heart rather than my head. I've written off Wilder more times than I can remember and the 2 legged Bollocks spouting machine keeps proving me wrong.
This! My dislike of Floyd blinded me to how this could play out.I expected Manny to get in there and really make PBF pay for being a tosser ! Alas ,it was not to be .
I was bigging up Rico Ramos a while back tipped “suavecito” for the very top largely based on his nickname Until he ran into an 8-0 rigo. then Ramos lost to his own cousin Ronny Rios and got somewhat of revenge back with wins over rios’s Cousin Juan Ruiz and his half brother Erik Ruiz
The biggest shocks to me have to be: 1. Khan v Prescott - incredible scenes. 2. Fury v Wilder - expected Wilder to absolutely flatten him given his long absence. 3. Joshua v Rice Pudding Jnr - only @emallini on here called this one pre fight
To me it remains very interesting that Bowe to this day says Hide hit him hardest. Out of anybody......
I also remember being super high on a few cannot miss future greats: Briggs and Guinn were the future of the Heavies, but on another site, nearly 20 years back, I actually called Muhammad Abdullaev the second coming of Duran. I just did not mention it was the 50 year old Duran that was reborn...
Watched this kid off his absolute tits at Glasto get called up on stage and thought “mama this ain’t gonna end well”... This content is protected
Hide had the perfect punch,, he was a Cruiser with real Heavyweight power, Bowe knew he'd been hit that night.
