Everyone fights Canelo out of character when they fight him:

Lara- Has never ran as much as he did against Canelo
Cotto- Refused to sit down on any of his punches
Alfredo Angulo- Fought more timid than he ever has in his entire career
JCC jr- Fought to survive after round 1
GGG- Fought off the back foot the entire fight for the first time in his professional career
Jacobs- Fought more tentative than in any fight including against GGG

 

YDKSAB! Lara ran because canelo kept coming forward and not letting him setup his offense, same with ggg. Canelo looked juiced to the gills against cotto. Jcc and angulo were drained overrated punching bags. Jacobs only fought tentative because canelo was so hard to hit cleanly. Canelo is an average puncher at middle weight.

Can someone explain to me why Canelo is fighting Kovalev? There's fights to be made at middle and super middle for him, I must be missing something

 

Kovalev is a fading star. Andrade and Smith will be around.

 

I know this is beating a dead horse. But boxing needs Canelo to fight GGG then Adrade. Boxing is never going to grow as a sport until we get the "super bowl" fights within weight divisions we want. Just sad.

 

They obviously see Kovalev as past it and weak to the body which canelo is usually good at exploiting. Smith is massive at super middle and most definitely in his prime, he doesn’t have the doubts they obviously have about kovalev. GGG won’t fight in Vegas which is booked for September. Could fight Andrade but never even seen canelo or DLH mention him so don’t think they’re interested in that one?

 

Canelo vs Kovalev is a very interesting fight. The latter is coming back to life again. Canelo will face the real threat this time.

 

He's chasing Glory. He already beat the #2 and #3 MWs.

Maybe he wants Kovalev before he gets older or loses again.
