What we know is what we see on the film and what the referee stated after the bout. These comments mirror what you see on the film. Sharkey repeated his comments, at least most of them at least twice. Once in an 1950’s article and another in an audio that’s on YouTube. No one denies Joe Louis hit very hard. The only man to take both fighters punches stated Dempsey hit harder punch for punch.
Sounds an awful lot like one of the mystery quotes that Perry has been attributing to Jack Sharkey all these years.
There is no mystery except why you comment on subjects you know nothing of. Do some original research. It’s quite rewarding.
We also know what the judges and the media sitting at ringside reported too (they saw plenty of fouls including right before the knockout blow). That's consistent with the film too. And when you or someone else can produce those articles or videos, we'll be getting somewhere! I've researched this and found some 50s articles where Sharkey compliments Dempsey's power, but I haven't seen the quotes you always mention.
Do more work. Researching a fight from 100 years ago takes time. You need to immerse yourself in the pre fight, the fight and the weeks after the bout. You have not completed this work. The ref described the three body blows, without instant replays, exactly as you see on the film. Three right uppercuts to the body and none of them were low. So says the man who stood feet away from both men. Suggest you look for truth not snippets to fulfill an agenda.
You need to follow your own advice. If you had, you would have found the Sharkey quote that I produced to start this thread. And you would have the correct language and specific citations of the quotes you've been attributing to Sharkey for all these years. I don't have an agenda. But it seems pretty clear that you're only interested in glorifying Jack Dempsey, even if you have to use apocryphal or exaggerated quotes to do so.
There are hundreds upon hundreds of quotes that attest to Dempsey’s power. Don’t be an ignoramus. Here is a nice find from prior to the fight. https://news.google.com/newspapers?...hnlGAAAAIBAJ&sjid=JukMAAAAIBAJ&pg=991,1616217
Original? Your the tiredest wag this board has ever witnessed. You wouldn't know Original if it came up from behind and rogered your thoroughly.
“Original” in Seamust’s world is believing Kovalev would be able to ko Dempsey, Louis and Marciano. (It’s called living in a dream world)
You really have a thing for repeating suspect talking points, eh? At some point you should have to back these accusations up or stop making them.
Apart from the Dempsey fight, in which he may ,or may not have been justified in doing so ,which others did Sharkey attempt to claim a foul ? Specifically which fights did he claim to be hit low in? I can only find one, below. The 1925 Maloney fight Sharkey led on points for six rounds and gave Maloney a terrific beating, but Jim came back strong in the seventh and in the eighth he knocked Sharkey to the canvas five times, once for the count of nine. Sharkey's corner claimed a foul when Maloney put him down again in the 9th. Not exactly , "a long history" is it? Where are the others?
