Is a big fat belly better at taking body shots?

Ruiz Jr has a truly impressive gut, you know how dad's have big beer bellies, he's got one of them but he's in his 20s.

Anyway, him and Anthony "Stiff PED Dummy" Juiceshua traded body blows and the rippling abs statue man came of far, far worse

This got me thinking is it better to have a fat belly? Does it act like a shock absorber?

He actually doesn't have a big belly. His fat is mostly concentrated in his love handles and upper body.

Maybe Joshua should try to target the body next time?

Leaving Ruiz with the faster hands to pebble dash him to the head with hooks, its risky imo

Roman gladiators were Ruiz types, a bit of flab protected the vital organs and vessels. And btw, don't mess with Santa!

    it makes sense tbh.

if you're still a fit, quick and strong boxer, having 2-3 inches of fat protecting your abdomen from punches would serve like a bullet proof vest.

the top 2 heavyweights in 2019 have dad bods/borderline obese body fat levels.

Yeah, it's very evident from all the classical sculptures that the Ruiz physique was something admirable..
