Whyte imo will lose to Rivas!

It’s heavyweights, anything can happen

I believe this will turn out to be a shoot out early on, whoever lands big first will win

Rivas has been sparked out cold on the amateurs with a headguard on and Whyte will be bigger on the night

I’m edging towards whyte

Its a tough fight.

I just hope he gets the win because he really deserves a title shot and the WBC have been a joke in how they have been dealing with mandatorys.

I hope he gets through this one and gets the wilder fight. He smashes wilder to bits imo.

 

Best bet for the betting man is it wont go the distance.

 

This is a pretty evenly matched fight but is everyone aware of that?

Whyte can win but it won't be any kind of shock if Rivas does imo

 

Yeah the wilder/haymon/WBC situation is bizarre to say the least.

I have to go with Whyte who is more proven, he has fought and beat better fighters than Rivas and Rivas looked bang average against Jennings.

I suppose it could be a rough and tough fight for Whyte if he wants a fight, if Whyte wants a blast out and gets reckless then yeah sure it could backfire but I don't think Whyte is that stupid any longer, he proved that against Parker and Chisora, Whyte now has the one thing I always thought he would lack.. discipline.

And a disciplined Whyte is a very dangerous Whyte.

Also Rivas is 6 foot nothing with a reach of 76 inches, if Whyte who is 6"4 and has a couple of inches reach avantage decides to box and try to break Rivas down with a jab and long straight right hands then I don't see what Rivas really does about it.

I see Whyte winning by late stoppage, I think Whyte will jab, straight right hands, hit the body when he can, lean on, use his size and strength to try and wear Rivas down, then grab a late stoppage, maybe even a British type stoppage where the referee takes it upon himself to "save" Rivas.

Could be a little bit like AJ Vs Takam, AJ was a mile ahead, winning comfortably and the referee just decided enough was enough.

Anyway, Whyte wins, but if I'm wrong as always I will log in and take the rotten fruit and veg being thrown in my direction.

 

60/40 fight in favour of Whyte for me. I'm looking forward to it.

Let’s be clear, this opponent has been cherry picked for Whyte. Hearn and Sky are not risking losing a PPV fighter to an unknown Columbian. In their heads this is a 95/5 odds on certainty to keep the hard done to, avoided Whyte gravy train, rolling. They’ll tell you it’s a hard fight, that it’s a 50/50 but that’s a load of b*****ks.

They’ve looked at the tapes and gone ‘this fella just holds a high guard, walks forward and lets you hit him’. It’s a full on, whopping cherry pick where if Whyte can’t stop him we’ll get the ‘it depends what the judges like’ from Adam Smith.

We’re boxing fans...we know the fighters and watch the videos, we know their flaws. We’re all guilty of envisaging a scenario in our heads where Rivas absorbs a load of shots then catches Whyte with one of those big overhand rights and puts him in all sorts of trouble. You never know, I think he could but I don’t want to hear the nonsense from Hearn etc in retrospect about how it was a dangerous 50/50.

 

Could be another "WHERE'S THE BELL!?" moment for Adam Smith.

 

Hearn picked Ruiz Jr for AJ

Rivas isn't a bum and Hearn overestimated his fighters abilities regularly (AJ, Brook, etc)

This seems alike an attempt to not have to give Whyte any credit if he wins what is, a fairly decent fight.

 

Rivas isn't terrible or anything. He's decent enough that if he wins it shouldn't be seen as some crazy upset or anything.
But he isn't that good either.

What's more important is that their styles should both gel nicely, so we should get a fun scrap out of it.
