hes engraining his footwork to move directly back, wheres the lateral drills? We know he gets outpunched when exchanging, the best way is to jab and move to the side, hes still in range moving backwards. Fury would box Ruizs ears off because of movement and angles,Joshua should be taking a leaf out of his book.
It's clear that AJ rushed for an impressive KO win in the first fight to match Wilder's KO of Breazeale, he was complacent and massively underestimated Ruiz - he won't for the rematch. I've seen numerous video's that suggest AJ is working on his weaknesses, and he's looking slimmer. I'm confident he'll make the correct adjustments for improving his defense, movement and conditioning enough to beat Ruiz comfortably in the rematch. He'll probably be happy to go for a UD, but I can see opportunities for the KO presenting themselves. The one who was splatted will become the splatter, AJ to win via brutal KO.
It's one drill ffs. its a 10-second clip and you think that's all he's doing? How fickle are you guys?
It’s useless for both of those things. You aren’t transferring weight or performing the same movement, the same way that running on a treadmill compared to overground completely changes the mechanics/motor recruitment. Training is specific to the imposed demands (SAID principle), performing a movement that is close enough to the desired movement is detrimental for the desired movement. What else is it good for?
Is it good for something? If not it’s a waste of training time. Is it detrimental for something? Yes it is. So unless you can give a reason why it’s really helpful, this is something that is worth picking on. The only thing I can think of is for a psychological factor, if he thinks he’s doing something and engaging in a process to overcome his flaws. Maybe his trainer tricking him into believing it is helpful will make him think he is doing good work. When it comes to the physical part it is ****ing stupid, and that’s what I’m picking on.
It’s not ingraining footwork, he’s on a treadmill. I agree with the other guy, it’s absurd to presume that he isn’t working on other things in the rest of his training. If this is replacing proper footwork when moving backwards then that is a problem. If he was performing lateral drills on a treadmill that would be a problem. Because that implies he is working on something important in an ineffective way. If he was doing handstand push ups on a treadmill I wouldn’t say anything, I’d assume he was doing proper boxing training somewhere else. But doing boxing on a treadmill? Dumb dumb idea.
Hhahahaha! WTF kind of training is that?? AJ is getting magic beans sold to him by his trainer. He needs to head down to the local gym. Skip, hit the bag, padwork and do some sparring - like a normal boxer does
oh you disagreed with the guy that disagreed with me then disagreed with me,gotcha. As for your post disagree, just cos its eastsideboxing. Personally want to see him doing 1 rep maxes with the powerlifts for moar ko power!!
It’s called having an honest and nuanced opinion, understanding context and recognising valid and invalid ideas. I don’t throw a blanket on a multivariate situation and either agree or disagree. That would make me dumb, and then I really would fit in with east side boxing.
Proper sparring which will enable him to work on certain things and which will condition him for actual fight snenarios, without the time outs to recover any time he gets dropped or hurt by his sparring partners. But I agree: I think as soon as Andy clips and hurts Joshua again, Joshua will panic and revert to type.
