Whyte imo will lose to Rivas!

What fight should I watch where Rivas look so dangerous? ?
He is bang average. Not awful but certainly not great. When this fight was announced alot of people thought it was a rubbish fight...Hearn has done a good job in making this seem like a 50/50 fight but its not.

Whyte will ko him inside 7.

 

12th round of the Jennings fight...that's about it. He's looked very pedestrian elsewhere

 

I don't think Eddie Hearn and Adam Smth et al. know enough about boxing to have any incredible "cherry picking" abilities.
Rivas is a bit of an unknown quantity to them as much as us.

I do expect them to have a whole ton of factors stacked against Rivas though.
Eg. referee, judges, commentary will be biased for Whyte ... and who knows what else.

Yes, Rivas looks a bit basic and flawed on the videos, but so does Whyte actually. So it's inconclusive.

 

I don't remember many people saying it was a rubbish fight as such.
More so that it was a rubbish PPV, seeing as Whyte is not quite an A-list heavyweight and Rivas is pretty much an unknown.

Rivas is, based on available evidence, a decent undefeated heavyweight.
I don't think he was ever reckoned a true soft touch as, say, Tom Schwarz was.

He may be "bang average" but by those standards Whyte is "a little above average".

 

On paper and based on available evidence, who exactly has Whyte ever defeated who people are so sure were BETTER than Rivas ?

I think Joseph Parker .... and Dereck Chisora is debatable. (I mean, would Chisora be a firm favourite against Rivas right now too?)
... and Whyte found both of them too tough for comfort.

I'd be surprised if people actually rate Rivas right now as a lesser fighter than (or on par with) Lucas Browne and a washed-up Robert Helenius .. . or Dave ****ing Allen .

 

That’s my point, which I also made on the other thread...this is a cherry pick sold to us as a 50/50...but imo Hearn has poor form for cherry picking.

Whyte will clobber this lad, but his guard is very high and he’s tight and tucked in so it’s quite difficult to land clean on him. It’ll be all arms and gloves. Plus, he times his own shots well hence why I can see the potential for a cherry pick gone wrong (again).

 

26-0 as a pro, beat some of the big names in the amateurs, coming off an upset KO win over a top-20 contender, 32 years old and in great shape .... apparently durable.

**** what Eddie Hearn says (I have no idea, I don't follow his interviews) .... Rivas is a decent opponent for someone like Whyte.

The only reservations I have on Rivas is that he's been around for a while and his career has been stalled in the past, perhaps through injuries. He was actually set to face an undefeated Gerald Washington a while ago (and would probably have been favoured to win by knowledgeable fans) but he failed an eye test then, so I'm not sure whether he's one of those fighters who's been on borrowed time ever since.

Which makes this a fairly interesting fight.

Of course, Rivas could be a disaster in this fight - "Charles Martin style" - for all we know.
But no one's buying it on PPV, so no harm done if he is.

 

Yet Whyte is running round saying "why would i rematch him when i already beat him", despite chasing an AJ rematch and rematching Chisora...can't believe anyone takes him seriously tbh

 

I’m getting quite irritated with the rhetoric he comes out with. He did what he had to do to win that fight, and he bent the rules with a very weak ref. Arguably should have had a point deducted for the excessive holding in the later rounds and refused to let the ref separate them at the clinch. He also got the 10-8 round with the headbutt. Parker deserves a rematch.

If there was ever an example of a fighter losing a fight as opposed to being beaten it was Parker vs whyte

 

if he cant beat rivas he has no right to be in ring with any of the top 4 and aint as good as he thinks he is

 

Early in the career...Whyte was winning fights with the WORST training schedule for a boxer, he just got through on pure grit, determination and physical gifts.

Now his training is TOP NOTCH at the university of Loubouroguh training and sports science, since losing to AJ he is now personally trained by the head of each sector in the sports science division at the university who are fully kitted with the most modern equipment, using cutting edge sports physio practises.

Whyte is getting stronger, fitter and better with each fight, he has been in the hard fights and thus come out far more seasoned than Rivas.... he's been more active too.

Even according to his strength and fitness numbers that get documented by the university, he is continually getting stronger and improving on everything... guy is just too strong now.

Chisora is GRANITE chinned, DURABLE mofo... it effing hard to put a beating on that guy not many have done it... and WHYTE was hurting Chisora with MANY punches... MANY!!!!! I could see the grimace on Chisora's face... everytime Whyte laid in.

You have no idea how much pain Whyte is going to bring.... YOU HAVE NO CLUE.... but you'll see on fight night... going to get educated.
