It’s impossible for a new school explosive fighter to have old school stamina. Different types of demands and endurance required.

Fighters today also have more muscle than fighters of the past.

That also plays a factor in why many fighters today would pass out before reaching the 15th round.

    Good post!

I would even say you can argue GGG beat Canelo twice if you use some bias, but calling both fights robberies is a complete exaggeration.

As far as who is a better boxer, its clearly Canelo though. Golovkin is very talented, his chin, power and pressure allows him to fight on even terms with Canelo and Jacobs, but the fighter with better punch variation, defense, footwork, upperbody movement, head movement, feints and combination punching is Canelo.

Jesus Christ. Please, find the link to the rematch on youtube and watch rounds 11 & 12 in 1/2 speed. Now I know we don't watch the fight in slow motion, but you can certainly see more. Watched it numerous times, in no universe does Canelo win that 12th round despite landing 2/3 nice hooks to the face. GGG gives a great account of himself in the 11th, close, but GGG won.

You saying GGG didn't win round 7,8,9,11,12 convincingly doesn't really mean anything - as it assumes you're giving all those rounds to Canelo ( yes I know you gave the 12th to GGG). And also, you can 100% give GGG 2/3 of 7,8,9 - you can even give him 3. I don't knwo what fight you were watching. It seems like Canelo's flashy punches to the arms/elbows and shoulders bamboozled you. GGG's defensively very good, but occasionally just doesn't give a **** and eats punches for no justifiable reason.

Come on...really. GGG was 35 in his first fight. At these kind of weights speed/reflexes diminish early 30s - so to that effect, GGG is still very good but he has literally PASSED his prime. The deterioration in his speed/reflexes is visible if you watch the progression of his fights

Well... if we are talking head to head prime for prime, I think Golovkin clearly beats Canelo, to me. I had Golovkin winning the first fight clearly, and I consider that a slightly declined Golovkin against a prime Canelo.

However... if we are not talking head to head or specifically at middleweight, and we are simply talking in a p4p sense of, whose the better boxer, I think its very very close, if not dead even. I can see a case for Canelo to be rated over Golovkin in a p4p sense, even if he loses head to head.

Don’t you think Golovkin would beat more top fighters in history head to head than Canelo?

I do, but I think his larger dimensions play a factor in that. To me, Canelos height and reach is at a slight disadvantage at middleweight.

So imo, Golovkin is the better middleweight, but I can see a case for Canelo having a slight edge in an overall p4p sense.

Say what you want about GGG What he has got in his career he has EARNED!! He's had no Fishnets behind him using his $$$$$ & influence to get him every advantage from the NSAC & Vegas boxing both legal & illegal the same as Floyd was awarded. In all reality Canelo arguably
lost to GGGx2, Lara & Trout as well as getting schooled by FlIVd. Then you add in his popping dirty for clenbuterol Twice !! Sorry that rules him out in my book GGG>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Canelo & it aint even close

if he is the better boxer....why has he been popped for clenbuterol? If Clenelo is a better boxer...he would know it....and he wouldn't feel the need to cheat. Therefore.....it seems even Clenelo doesn't believe he is the better fighter. When I was in school....I studied hard and made A's....always. Some that didn't do well...i.e. study well....and knew they were not going to do well......cheated.
