I think Fury beats Holmes. Holmes is going to have come forward against the longer, taller guy. Not his A game. Also I'm confident Fury do go 15 easy, so could Wilder.

Furys power means about as much as Holmes. They both intentionally go the distance and if they fought being the bigger puncher would mean little since neither is getting stopped. They don't have the power to KO each other.

It becomes a game of tag. Can Holmes outjab a guy who is that much bigger with his own awkward skill set?

Fury is not beating prime Larry Holmes. Fury is a total train wreck of a fighter. No chance he carries that oddball frame 15 rounds at Holmes speed.

I've never seen him tired which is really all you can say for anybody who never went 15. He always looks relaxed. I'd wager he'd do fine over 15. TBH it would probably be good for him. You need to remember at 6'9" with a reach advantage he really doesn't need to fight at Larry's pace. Fury is great at using his grappling to tie up shorter guys. Let me ask, do you think Larry is a better swarmer than Fury is an outside fighter? Because Larry has go get around Fury's reach to land even his jab. Larry needs to make Fury miss before he can really begin an attack and it's not his A game.

Larry is a great fighter, and a champion who rose to the occasion. But on paper, and in my minds eye, Fury beats him.

Reach in of itself means nothing. It’s reflexes, speed, timing and yes...skill. Holmes will outjab Fury all night and tomorrow too. He will also look like lightning compared to the lumbering oaf. It’s an ATG hwt champion vs well... a mess. The mess won’t win.

Except Fury isn't lumbering, or an oaf. He's got quick feet (not as fast as Larry's but still) he always on balance, good defensive skills. On top of being that much bigger. Agree to disagree I guess.

You've been caught out lying literally hundreds of times in here. You've been caught out repeating the same lies over and over after allowing some dust to settle. There's no need to go wasting time on you trawling thru the numerous threads for such instances as every man and their dog knows how you roll.

This comment shows just how out of touch you are with what actually happens around you. Others will pick up exactly what i am putting down but there's not a chance you will.

Now this highlights that you yourself have zero integrity, intelligence or honesty.

Multiple times now you have alleged i said Holmes couldn't shut fighters out. You have convinced yourself this is what i claimed and set about trying to take me down on it. The pathetic thing is that i never claimed Holmes couldn't shut fighters out at all yet here you are claiming again and again that i did even tho my exact statement is there for anyone and everyone to read.

You are an absolute shocker and it's little wonder you **** so much up and make a fool of yourself on so many occasions.

The simple fact of your whole little charade is two fold -

    1. I seldom go far outside the popular consensus of opinion on fighters but Holmes is one of the few i drift a bit outside the current conventional view. (Mind you many sit in the same position i do, or further left. I've also drifted outside that view per Hagler for 15 odd years in here and the views i used to express are quite commonplace now.)

With this in mind you thought it was a good opportunity to suddenly take me on after years of silence and staying in your box (i told you when i come back i would not be wasting time on you or posting in your threads). With Holmes being a very popular fighter in here and sitting in a higher overall forum position than i hold him in you thought you would garner a bit of support and have me piled up on. Despite your best direct efforts to drag Houdini in he simply stuck with what he had been debating and rose above you.

    2. McVey ignoring you has you desperate for attention, any attention. You obviously thrive on him giving you some attention and whupping you on a consistent basis. Hell, you even started a thread (which had no place on this forum) begging him to start posting again. You miss that drama and attention and have come looking for it elsewhere.

Aren't there any other 70 year olds in here for you to challenge to a fight on the internet again?

For the record i reckon McVey would have absolutely carved you up ;)

Now go and crave your attention elsewhere as i'd rather spend my time posting stuff and reading opinons from the numerous fine posters in here.

Interesting post. I agree on a distance fight but for me Holmes would have more chance of stopping Fury than Fury would Holmes. Holmes wasn't a big puncher but he could wear reasonably durable fighters down with workrate, class, accuracy and stamina. I am envisaging a 15 rounder tho.

In this one i believe Holmes handspeed and workrate would take him to a well received decision win. Holmes contrary to popular opinion doesn't just sit back boxing and out jabbing guys all night. There's plenty of warrior in him at heart and he would put the pressure on often enough to control the bout. Fury is pretty skilled and fast for a big man but Holmes would be that much faster and sharper imo. His handspeed would serve him well in exchanges and as I've alluded to Holmes exchanges quite a bit. Against such a tall guy this would serve him well imo.

I could well be wrong but that's how i see it. Wilder and his booimg power would be more dangerous imo even if he would be getting outboxed more so that Fury would. He carries that power all night and knows it.

    That's just my take.

Love this. It's something one hears all the time about Holyfield, being a warrior and such. Larry rarely, completely took it easy and skated a whole fight (if ever). He certainly got hit solid more than once in the Shavers I fight, and he did mix it up with Earnie on several occasions.

Larry was to some degree a different fighter in his early career, right up to and including the Norton fight. He was still carrying around the Ali influence, and in the case of Shavers I it was phenomenally impressive (not unlike watching Ali long-term dismantle his opponents in the 60s). It was with the Evangelista fight that Larry slowed down his feet some and started stepping into his right more (evidenced by his rare one punch knockout victory over said Evangelista) and ultimately became his own, inimitably great, fighter.

Dude you so full of **** you must have flush handles for ears. If someone lies all the time, and I ask you for one example, and you have none it smacks your lack of integrity. How can you not recall one thing?

Sure Mcvey would have carved me up. Bawhahaha. The dude had no bottle; I can see why you liked to sniff his read end. Do I need to show you why he wanted to see me at the airport as his son in law worked security here ( If he was being truthful ) He said it, not me. Do i need to show you him disappearing for three months, and claiming some sort of surgery as a reason why he didn't post for three months when things heated up. That is the truth.

I think others in this post laughing at you. You are a hack.

Well there's some action right here in this very thread. Your exchanges with McVey mostly one sided beatdowns? I assume you mean your way? And your description of events?

That right there is is some serious lying. The trouble is you are that thick and obnoxious you don't even realise you are lying. If you weren't such a twat it would be somewhat sad.

Well he's certainly better "read" that you dumbo!!!!

And there we have it. Even after highlighting your inability to even repeat what i actually said there you go again - dumbo strikes. Your dishonesty shines thru yet again.

On your bike dumbo I've wasted enough of my time and the good forums space on you, a certified rumper.

    Apologies to the thread starter.

You say I made something up. I said, SHOW me. You can't despite your long tenure here. You have zero credibility on what you say about boxing or other people on this forum.

Every time you suggested it you are repeating a lie as if you say it enough, it becomes true.

You're a fraud around here, everyone knows it. It to frame in it a context your limited mind can comprehend, you're the board Hodor!

    Here Hodar, Hodor!

Now can we get back to boxing?

Lol Fury was getting out boxed by Steve Cunnigham a light punching cruiser weight for crying out loud. Fury's best win was against a old Wladimir Klitschko where he ran for 12 rounds and landed 86 punches. I am not a Larry Holmes fan but he would wreck Fury. The top heavyweight today are either fat, on PEDs, or fat and on PED's. Being 270 pounds with love handles wouldn't cut it against a in shape fighter like Larry Holmes. Larry Holmes fought the 6'5 230 pound Gerry Cooney and schooled him. He fought the 6'5 240 pound Roy "Tiger" Williams. So fighting guys bigger than him wasn't a problem. A prime Holmes would complete dominated days joke era. Hell a old Larry Holmes would still be the undisputed champion today.
