I actually feel for Yarde because he’s not even had half a test and he’s jumping in with Kovalev. He’s skipping British and Euro level which is a poor idea in my opinion, he’ll be slaughtered if he fails badly.
It's interesting because nobody really knows how good Yarde is, he could either totally flop or shock the World. I'm going to go with the idea that he can shock the World because it's more fun.
As far as I know, as mandatory Yarde would be entitled to step aside money. Reckon it would be better to just take that money and wait for his shot as mandatory. If Kovalev beats Canelo, Yarde would be next in line anyway. If Canelo beats Kovalev Canelo would probably vacate the title and Yarde would most likely have an easier fight for a vacant title. If I was a boxer I’d take step aside money every time. Keep ticking away in the gym and get paid without getting hit at all. That’s the dream really. On a side note I think Canelo’s team is mad to chase this fight. I think Kovalev is a way, way harder fight than Golovkin.
Yeah i agree about Kovalev. Some going if Canelo can step that far up. It’s interesting he sounded Smith out originally then when Smith’s team fancied it they’ve moved on to Kov. They must think he’s shot. I’m not interested in the step aside money for Yarde just want to know who he would fight next. Would it be Ramirez for an interim or if he takes step aside money does he then forfeit any title shot until Kov is ready?
According to one of the Russian users, the terms for the rematch were that Kovalevs team had to put all the money in an Eskrow for Yarde because Yarde was afraid he would pull out again. So if they don't make some sort of deal with Yarde then Yarde will get his full purse no matter what
Sound. We don’t care about the money. That’s what’s wrong with boxing today remember. Who does Yarde fight if he doesn’t fight Kovalev. That’s what we all want to know.
I can foresee the meltdown already from the Hearn fanatics. Logically Yarde will probably have a comfortable tick over fight against an easy opponent while he waits for a mandatory shot. The Hearn fanatics though will overlook the fact that Yarde signed to fight Kovalev in Russia on two occasions and attack him again for “not stepping up”.
