I think Ruiz is a hard, but not concussive, hitter. If you let him get his combos off on you he'll rip you up, but he doesn't feel like a Julian Jackson type "1 flush hit and the house comes down" guy.

Not Wilder/Whyte type of one clean shot... but Joshua is a big, big man, strong, thick developed neck muscles, and upper back musculature, powerfull tendons... yet when Ruiz was T'ing off on Joshua against the ropes... AJ's head was flopping around like a fish out of water.

UFC 239: "The total disclosed payroll for the event was $3,331,000." 3.3mil for 12 fights. The card was opened by 2 chicks who made 32K combined. Or take a smaller card like Jacaré vs. Hermansson: "The total disclosed payout for the event was $1,173,000." That card was stacked with lesser known fighters, who all made decent money. There are also sponsorship bonuses(which actually sucks) and fight night bonuses. The top UFC guys get smaller guarantees and definitely earn less than the top boxers, but they still make really good money. UFC isn't overpaying for mismatches.
I'm guessing average power for a heavyweight. Boxrec 22 KO's from 33 wins. Not sure how many of those are actual KO's from power or just stoppages (didn't boxrec used to show what round a KO/TKO was? not there now). Anyhow, in the AJ fight they didn't look like huge power shots. AJ got hit on the temple the first time and never got his feet back.

RE the thread; His record suggests that he perhaps isn't one of the top punchers in the division - though if you consider his weight, and combine that with his speed and accuracy, that surely must equal power right? Best I can judge this one, fortunately he's never splatted me so it's hard to tell!
Andy Ruiz isn't a devastating puncher. He's never knocked down anyone like he did Joshua. Joshua grew accustomed to hitting people, and they either fell down, covered up or backed off as the blow landed. Against Joshua, however, Ruiz would slip the punch or take it, and immediately counter. And Joshua didn't see the punches and didn't expect them. Joshua wasn't knocked out by Ruiz. Joshua was repeatedly stunned and surprised ... he had no way to defend against what Ruiz was doing ... and Joshua just quit. I honestly don't see how Joshua wins the rematch, unless he just manages to hit Ruiz hard enough to drop him and keep him down, or Joshua develops the mental toughness to take shots that many others have stood up to. Because, Joshua clearly got so rattled when someone consistently hit him back that he packed up and went home. And that ain't good. You could see it on the faces of guys at ringside like Parker and Usyk. Joshua just quit. I think the rematch is happening too soon. Maybe Joshua can land one hook that puts Ruiz down and keeps him down. But I expect Ruiz will counter the hell out of Joshua again. And Joshua will likely quit again.
