I don't have an issue with it. He is holding their belt, and while the IBF has shown quite a bit of corruption in the past, they are less corrupt than the WBC in regards to wanting their titlist to defend the title. Sulaiman's WBC simply wants the sanctioning fees from Canelo fights, so they set up a system where he is still the champ even when he loses.
Canelo will ignore that order, almost guaranteed. Then the IBF will order Derevyanchenko vs. Golovkin, and... Golovkin won't fight Derevyanchenko as well. Maybe he will, but I've got a feeling he will fight someone else instead... And then Derevyanchenko will fight Kamil Szeremeta for the vacant title. If Derevyanchenko beats him, he will become a very lonely middleweight champion...
Might change their mind about a mandatory. You never know with these things. But! This could force Canelo to unify with Andrade. Something DAZN should be happy about.
With both GGG and Canelo not willing to fight him. I can see Derevyanchenko fighting Szeremeta then fighting Charlo in a unification as PBC will see it as giving Charlo the power in the division holding 2 belts despite not actually being the real WBC champ.
Well if it happens its up to Canelo, fight him or drop the belt. Id hope there is no step aside money. I know Canelo is this big shot and him and his team doesnt want to be told what to do or who to fight or when to fight but hes holding belts the sport shouldnt revolve around him and if anybody is guna do it right its the IBF.
Yep exactly, for all their faults (which they all have...stating the bleeding obvious) they do enforce their mandatories; sure they can be flexible and loose, but generally their top contender will eventually get a shot. None of this Franchise/emeritus champ type crap. Canelo will be their cosmic champ at 80, having bum fights on virtual reality, still being their figurehead, ambassador and representing the organisation with pride.
It looks like Canelo will be parting ways with his 2nd belt. The first was the WBC belt that was given to Charlo. Now, if he more than likely goes in a different direction that DAZN wants him to go, he will only have 1 belt.
