I don't either Clinton...they're a tiring, needless pain in the ass for me...listing the atg's numerically,......it tires me out just to think about it. Even listing my favorite fighters (in no particular order) is a hassle and a chore....I always seem to leave someone out and then I have to revise the list.

Maybe Greb could have but nobody has ever done what Armstrong did. Think of all the great fighters over time. He is the only one. I don't know what edges that.
They both fought good fighters. Remember that Hank fought the middleweight champ and perhaps should have been 4 titles at the same time. Referee had to deduct about 47 points from Hank so Garcia could keep his belt.

Precisely. Couldn't have put it better myself. Plus I have always rated Harry Greb very highly based on his resume and accomplishments but have never seen him fight and always justify that to myself anyway lol.

Armstrong's top 5 on any good list and then you narrow him down from there.

I wouldn't rank him in top 25 (same for Willie Pep, for that matter). There were a lot of other ATG's who have more impressive resumes and head-to-head abilities, in my opinion.

I think I remember you saying that you do not have Duran in your Top 20 as well. You have knowledge of boxing from way back in the day that I and maybe others do not … It would be great to see some of these many names who you have higher than these 3

Personally I think top 5 is a little high, but I would never be opposed to anyone who thought otherwise

Outside of the top 10 is pretty ****ing abysmal

I have Ray Robinson as 1, then Greb, Langford and Armstrong as 2a, 2b and 2c. Most days I feel Armstrong is the outright number 2.

I don’t see how he’s not top 5. Maybe he’s punished because it’s deemed he peaked early? That’s ignoring an absolutely staggering amount of volume, accomplishments, quality and brilliant performance level that he put into his prime.

Maybe it’s the Zivic losses being too harshly punished?

Random pick, Terry McGovern, how is Henry Armstrong greater than him?

Up front I'd like to say I respective your knowledge and research, but I can't agree with you here.
Armstrong held 3 titles simultaneously and quite a few felt he deserved the nod against Garcia for number 4
    He beat;
    Davis
    Belloise
    Arizmendi
    Zurita
    Wolgast
    Spoldi
    Klick
    Bass
    Sarron
    Wright
    Feldman
    Roderick
    Ambers
    Garcia
    Manfredo
    Day
    Montanez
    Joyce
    Larkin
    Angott
    Ross
    Zivic
He defended the welter title 20 times in 2 years,he's a top ten ATG in my book and, I would hazard a guess in most everybody else's.

McGovern could be considered the champion at bantamweight, featherweight and lightweight, simultaneously, with much stronger competition at the weights than was the case in 1937-1940, in my opinion. Listing a bunch of names, with no context, proves nothing. A number of Armstrong's defences were against second or third raters.

I'm not arguing against McGovern being an ATG,I'm arguing against you declaring Armstrong does not merit a spot in the top 25
The fighters I listed whom Armstrong beat are not second or third raters are they?

Tbh I don’t really have an answer, both of those gentlemen we’re amazing fighters, I guess I just feel they didn’t do quite as much as the 5 in my top 5, that being said, if anyone has them in there top 5 you’ll find no argument from me,
