BLTV brings up 5 MWs and displays there skills and compares them with 5 MWs from the past.
Except he doesn't do this in depth, so I will

My 5 MW picks since 2000 are
    1. Hopkins
    2. Martinez
    3. GGG
    4. Canelo
    5. Taylor
    My 5 picks before 2000
    1. James Toney
    2. Marvin Hagler
    3. Carlos Monzon
    4. Stanley Ketchel
    5. Sugar Ray Robinson
How do the old school fighters do against the new ones?

    James Toney vs...

I think that Hopkins fails to set up enough right hands to build up a points lead, whilst Toney's defence takes more rounds, James would also time Bernards jab and land counter rights, although I doubt he gets a sort of stoppage

    Milky slickness > Ginger Slickness
Toney boxes Canelo's ears off over 12. James's counters in the pocket leave Nelo's face cut up and all over the place

GGG is made for James, his walk forward agressive style would play right into Toney's hands, it would look like the first Canelo fight but with Toney landing and throwing alot more than Saul did. He also would do better on the ropes

    Toney UD12

Jermain is completely outclassed, Toney embarrasses him before he KOs him, to slick, to strong and to good for Bad Intentions

    Toney TKO9

Martinez is too far out of his depth here, he loses almost every round to Toney, he's just not on that level. Sergio could take Toney's best imo

    Toney UD12

    James Toney 5-0 (1 KO)

    Hagler vs

    This content is protected

Bernard beats Marvin imo, he'd feint his right and pop his jab, he'd be able to initiate clinches and land good punches that would certainly add up on the cards. Marvin wouldn't KO Hopkins imo, tho he obviously has a chance but I like The Alien on PTS

    Hopkins UD12

Marvin runs Canelo about like the first GGG fight, but Canelo doesn't avoid a prime Haglers jab and power combinations (which he'd actually throw) and would get a late stoppage after a beatdown, due to Canelo's stamina and Hagler's body attack

    Hagler TKO11

Great fight, but Marvin's power eventually turns GGG into a jab machine, and Hagler out jabs him. Some very entertaining scalps and exchanges in this one tho. GGG has an ATG and doesn't have stamina issues, so I think he makes the distance

Bad Intentions gets blasted out, and relatively early. Different levels.

    Hagler KO4

Great scrap, I think Hagler gets to him around the 6th, and then proceeds to beat ten bells out of him until a merciful referee stops it.

    Hagler TKO9

    Marvin Hagler 4-1 (3KOs)

    Stanley Ketchel vs

    This content is protected

Bernard leads Stan on to Right hand after right hand all night, in fact I think that combined with his pre fight game could **** Ketchel off so much he may get disqualified

    Hopkins UD12

50/50, Canelo would have a great chance here due to his Defence but I can't get the image of Ketchel exploding and the follow up being vicious enough to stop Canelo or force him into survival mode. Canelo could just outbox plainly tho. If I had to pick I'd say Canelo on points

This would be an incredible fight, but I GGG takes Ketchel's best but not the other way round, I see a GGG stoppage around the 10th, after having his face cut up, his eyes gauged, his balls slapped and almost every foul in the book.

    GGG TKO12

Taylor gets caught while up on the cards, Stanley's attack would put Jermain out and probably pretty brutally. I tend to think Stanley gets a late stoppage

    Ketchel KO10

A pretty one sided beatdown imo, Sergio gets tagged repeatedly by Stanley and is hurt multiple times, I see this as a the type of fight that ruins a fighter personally. With Stanley's fouls as well, this would be a real career harmer in my mind. But Sergio might make the finish line.

    Ketchel UD12

    2-3 (1 KO)

 Toney got barely by many fighters who were lesser men than the modern MW champs.
Overrating James here a tad bit.

Obviously when we do these types of matches we assume each fighter is in their best mental and physical prime.

So, Buster Douglas is an ATG in these matches?

Let me guess, you just worked off of your memory, right?
You should have done case by case studies and then come to you conclusions.

Actually, the both of you! Show me that one James Toney fight at 160, which leads you to believe he absolutely would beat Alvarez, Hopkins, Golovkin and Taylor.
Show me that one fight where he was "at his best".
